    But first you have to check the Air filter and evaporator fins if it is clean. If it is dirty then clean it, reset the unit by disconnecting the power supply for 10 sec. and "on" again.

If this is a ductless mini split e4 appears to be an air temp sensor on the indoor or outdoor unit that is sensing an abnormal reading. Check air filter and both I.d & o.d coil cleanliness. Its hard to troubleshoot without a model number. If its a 38g or 40g in the model number its a discharge temp sensor reading high temp situation (dirty o.d. coil, low freon, refrigerant restriction. My carrier aircon model WCARG019EE is not cold & theres E4 code what does it mean?
According to the Owners Manual, E4 is a fault code that requires service by an authorized Carrier Serviceman. No other explanation for it was given.
