Hello, what level of grinding the coffee are you using? I think the highest level to make the finest grind is an 8 on this machine and in no way should you be grinding your coffee at this level. When you grind the coffee at its highest setting it causes the grinds to clump and will also cause blockages in the machine as well. If the unit were set to the finest setting sometimes also the grounds are so fine that the water is unable to go through the grounds which as I stated previously ends up causeing blockages in the machine as well. I will await your reply as to how fine of a grind that you are using. Thanks Rick
Sorry was thinking of a different jura as far as the number 8 but what is the grind set at even though you did not touch it as you stated previously? Thanks Rick
The plug is most likely soupy due to the grind level that you are using the finer the grind it eventually packs down and ends up causing blockages on some units and coffee deposits in your coffee as well. I have also seen that due to to fine of a grind the grinds end up blocking the spout not allowing the coffee to come out which ends up being a pain in which you have to take the spout off and clean it with a needle or a pin. I await your reply to what the grind level that you are currently using in your machine. Thanks Rick
what grind level are you using to grind the beans? The difference in types of coffees due to some have more oil then others makes this matter significantly. I await your reply Thanks Rick
You dont have to use max coarseness a medium setting in between is fine if you turn it all the way up to max fine this causes blockages where not even the water is sometimes able to go through and if it does causes the nozzle to become blocked with the grind. Which you end up haveing to use a pin or a needle on the nozzle to clean out the fine coffee stuck in the nozzle. If you have any further questions message me back. Thanks Rick
p.s in some jura models you can get away with using one before the fineness you pretty much have to play with the fineness to find the perfect match between the type of coffee you like to drink and a brew that doesn't clog the machine. I await your reply if you have any further questions Thanks again

Grinder is not grinding sufficient quantity of coffee to form a solid plug. Plug used to be about 1/2" to 3/4" thick and was fairly solid. Now the plug is soupy and approximately 1/2" thick. Powder is getting into the coffee and has clogged the dispensing nozzles. Additionally, occasionally the open tap comes on randomly (not while changing filters or cleaning machine). I disassembled casing, cleaned and could find nothing that looked like it needed replacing. I did not readjust the grind setting knob. The machine is a jura type 618 a2 article # 13187
The volume of the coffee is significantly less.
Adjusted grind to max coarseness and it helped. Plug is much drier but is still too thin. I will continue to make coffee to see if it clears a blockage and volume of coffee ground increases. I tried double cup instead of strong. It's better but not right.
For anyone else with this problem, I used to soak the nozzle tips in a plastic cup which cleaned the nozzles.
Much improved.
