To install RentRight and transfer you data onto a new computer?

Answer :
Follow this link to download and install RentRight v3 on your NEW computer: http://www.rent-right.com/support/UpdateVer3FirstTime.html

If you are not using the Internet, you will need to order a CD with the full version of RentRight to install into your new computer.

Follow this link to download and Update to the latest version of RentRight v3 on your OLD computer: http://www.rent-right.com/support/UpdateVer3.html
DO NOT change the installation directory folder. When asked if you want to write over the existing folder, reply, YES. Respond to the prompts to complete the installation.

When done, open RentRight on your old computer, go to File on the menu bar and choose BACK UP to back up your data, and save it to your Desktop.

TO BACKUP YOUR DATA:

Insert a portable storage device, such as a blank CD or USB memory stick, into your computer.

We recommend that you do not us a 3 1/2 floppy disk, because it is not reliable, and may not have a

large enough storage capacity to hold your backup.

In RentRight, click on File from your Menu bar
Select Backup

Click the Backup button

The Back Up window will open:

Use the "Save In" drop-down menu to navigate to the desired location, such as your Desktop

DO NOT BACK UP DIRECTLY TO YOUR PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE
Click on the Save button
Copy the backup that you just created, rrbackv3.zip, from your saved location to the portable storage device you inserted into your computer.

Copy and Paste the Backup Database you just created, from your Desktop to a portable storage device,

such as a cd or flash drive.

Take the portable storage device containing your backup from your old computer to your new computer, and Copy and Paste the Backup Database from your portable storage device to your Desktop.

Open RentRight on your new computer, go to File, and RESTORE your data.

TO RESTORE YOUR DATA:
1. Locate your rrbackv3.zip file

2. Right-Click on your rrbackv3.zip

3. Select 'Extract All' from the drop-down menu

4. Follow the Extraction Wizard prompts. This will create a Folder with the name rrbackv3. In this folder will be a file called 'aptment.mdb'. You may not see the .mdb file extension if you do not have this preference set. This aptment.mdb file is your Backup Database, and is the one you want to restore in RentRight.

5. Start RentRight.
6. Select File from the Menu Bar.
7. Select Restore.
8. Cancel the "insert a disk into drive A" message, unless you are using a 3 1/2 inch floppy disk. If so, insert the disk.
9. Click on the drop-down arrow in the 'Files of type' field, and select 'All Files'

10. Click on the drop-down arrow in the 'Look in' field, navigate to the aptment.mdb you just extracted, and click on it.

11. Click the Restore button

KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU CANNOT BACKUP OR RESTORE DIRECTLY BETWEEN RENTRIGHT AND A PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE.

You must backup your data to your desktop, and then copy that file from your desktop to your portable storage device, such as a disc or flash drive. The same applies for restoring from a portable storage device: you must copy that backup from your portable storage device to your desktop, and restore your data from the file copied on your desktop.

Now you need to move your license to the new computer.

You must first de-activate the license from the old computer. Go to Help/RentRight Sales on the old computer. Follow the prompts about moving from one computer to another. Next, choose the option to "Activate over the Phone". Contact us by phone at 800.964.8065 x2826, or email and provide us with the Entry Codes and Computer ID numbers for both the old and new computer. After deactivating the license on your old computer, we will give you a different activation code for the new computer.

A distorted sound is coming from my speakers even if i connect speakers

It is a possibility that you are getting feedback from a device that is near by. Possibly a cell phone or other device. I would recommend moving the computer to a different location and removing all electronic devices from beside the computer, then reconnecting speakers.

It is also possible that you have a bad sound card. If that is the case, you will need to purchase another sound card and replace the old one. I have included instructions on how to replace your sound card below:

Here is a site where you can purchase the sound card you may be in need of:
http://www.meritline.com/laptop-sound-card-usb-port---p-39078.aspx?source=nextaghdac

There are other sites such as Ebay where you can also purchase the sound card. The type of sound card you need is a PCMCIA Sound Card for an Acer Laptop.

Here are instructions on how to install a new sound card:
Installing a PCMCIA Sound Card in Your Acer Laptop
  1. Step 1 Locate the PCMCIA card slot on your computer. On an Acer laptop, the slot may be either on the left or the right side of the laptop.
  2. Step 2 Remove the PCMCIA card cover by pressing the "Eject" button and pulling the cover out.
  3. Step 3 Insert your PCMCIA sound card with the connectors facing in and the upper label facing up. Some PCMCIA cards will have an arrow to make it easier to orient the card correctly.
  4. Step 4 Press the PCMCIA card gently into place.
  5. Step 5 Windows will recognize the PCMCIA card and search for the needed software.
  6. Step 6 If your sound card came with an installation CD, insert it in the CD slot and follow the instructions to install applications and utilities for use with your new sound card.
Installing a USB Sound Card in Your Acer Laptop
  7. Step 1 Turn the computer on.
  8. Step 2 Plug the USB sound card into the appropriate USB plug on your laptop.
  9. Step 3 Wait for the computer to recognize the new USB device.
  10. Step 4 Insert the sound card manufacturer's CD if prompted to do so.
If a sound card is not the issue, then you possibly have circuitry issues on your laptop motherboard. For this issue, you may need to consult a certified technician at your local computer repair shop.

(If you are not a professional or are used to opening your laptop, I would recommend taking it to a local computer repair shop for a certified technician to look at this issue. Do bare in mind if you have a warranty, opening your laptop and not being a certified professional would void any warranty agreement you have with your manufacturer)

Purchase a USB cable and google online for a Nokia Software Updater.

Make sure that all fotos, songs, contacts and other personal info are removed and saved on another storage device as the updater flashes/cleans out all applications and inputs a new version to suit your fone. Step by step instructions are also given from the update program.

After this you should be able to input whatever you please.

How do i install my web cam

hi,
Step 1 Purchase a camera. Webcams can range from a basic model for around $30 to ones that contain a motion sensor for around $350 or so. Most mid-priced models come with a microphone install. Decide on what this camera will be used for and choose accordingly.
  • Step 2 Read the installation instructions completely before attempting to install the camera. Although this may seem tedious and unnecessary, it can save time and headaches in the long run.
  • Step 3 Back up the computer's harddrivejust to be safe. This will allow for a speedy recovery should the installation mess up the computer.
  • Step 4 Install the webcam software. Before deciding to install the disc that came with the camera, check the Internet for an updated version of the software and download that if available.
  • Step 5 Plug in the webcam. The software should give a prompt at the appropriate time. Cameras are usually installed with a USB cable. If installed correctly, the computer will acknowledge so by popping up a message saying it can see the new device.
  • Step 6 Download an instant message program if using the web camera for chatting. Some free IM download programs include Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger and Apple iChat.
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); });

How do you install wireless usb adaptor

A wireless USB adapter is a simple device that connects to an open USB port on your computer or laptop, allowing you to connect wirelessly to a network that is within range. They come with different connection speeds, ranges and security protection allowing you to connect to the Internet and use email servers, without complicated setups. Installing USB adapters to a computer is a simple task that anyone can perform. With just a few steps, you can access wireless networkmag-glass_10x10.gif where there is one.
    jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions
    1. Step 1 Research around before purchasing a wireless USB adapter. There are many different networking companies such as Belkin, Netgear and Linksys (see links in Resources). Compare prices and features such as speed in megabytes per second (mbps). Look for wireless USB adapters with a compliance of IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11g. These options give you increased security on your network.
    2. Step 2 Plug your purchased USB into a USB port on your computer. Depending on the chosen model, you may have an installation CD. Place your installation CD into the CD-ROM on your computer, and follow the setup instructions to install the wireless USB drivers. Some adapters will install automatically.
    3. Step 3 Locate the wireless icon on the lower right of your computer screen. If there is an "X" marked on it, use the manual that comes with your purchased wireless USB adapter to configure it properly. The wireless icon usually lights up when a wireless connection point is detected.
