What to check when your refrig. cools ok but leaks water from freezer

Check the drip tray in the freezer section where defrost water drips from the defrost heater melting frost during the defrost cycle. If ice blocks the drain hole in the tray inside the freezer(usually behind the evaporator cover) the defrost water will travel into the bottom of the freezer & onto your floor. Some models also have a second evaporator in the fresh food section. A blocked drain or clogged defrost drain tube can cause the problem.

The reason for that water drip is from a blocked drain of the defrost,since that drain is blocked it is causing water to collect/drip from the freezer.I have written a tip about how to clear that drain,

The cause of that drip is going to be a blocked defrost drain in the freezer and the water from the defrost is pooling up in the freezer then when it can't hold anymore it's dripping through the vent in the ceiling of the refrigerator onto the shelfs. By removing the back wall of the freezer you could find the drain on the bottom of the freezer coil. By GENTLY peircing that frozen drain at a 45 degree angle until a small hole is formed in the built up ice it could be totally flushed using warm water once a small opening is made in the ice in the drain.

That water is from the melting frost of the automatic defrost cycle. Their is drain in the freezer behind the back wall under the evaperator coil that is blocked, so instead of defrost water draining it's pooling in the freezer or in some case espically on models with the freezer on the top,the water is leaking from the freezer vents into the fresh food compartment.
The way to clear the drain is remove back plate and remove all ice build up and GENTLY make a small hole in drain through then totally flush w/warm water.
The exact location of drain is under the coil behind back freezer plate in the center

Sounds like you have a drain that is plugged. When it goes into defrost the water hass no place to run. Thats when you get water like that. I would defrost it completly. Then try to get to the drain and pour hot water slowly to see if it goes all the way down to the pan. If not. Yu may have to have air pressure to go thru the drain.
