First you are NOT A DUMMY you are just not knowledgeable enough in asking questions to IT's... elctronics is verry abstract you need to give exhaustive information if you want help, try telling us what you are trying to hook up (device make and model of the device, to what type of computer make and model of the computer as well, using what type of connectivity, cable, wireless. etc...)

The way I read this, all I know is you are trying to hook something to a computer that has Vista....
