How To Decorate aToddler Bedroom

Maybe your toddler is moving out of a crib and into a new toddler bed, or you've recently done some decorating. Either way, here are some wonderful ideas to transform a boring bedroom into a great kid friendly space.

  • Think ahead - this issue is an important one. Don't get so lost in decorating a toddler theme for your kid that they will grow out of it and you will need to re-decorate the following year. Likewise, if you have a girl toddler and newborn baby boy who will be joining his sister's room in the future, don't go crazy with pink and girlie themes.
  • Themes - this can be a really nice way to decorate the room especially if your kid has a particular interest or character that they love. But be careful - kids are very fickle and they can easily go off the things they loved with a passion the month before. So if you want to add Spiderman to a room or Barbie, try and keep it subtle or use stickers that can peel off if necessary.
  • Storage - don't forget to put plenty of storage space in the bedroom as this will help keep the room looking good. You don't want to give your toddler loads of space to play with toys but nowhere to put them away at the end of the day. There are some really funky storage drawers on sale lately but if you're on a budget, you can always buy some second hand furniture and strip it down and re-varnish or paint it. You can buy some colorful glass draw handles or stencils to paint on patterns to the furniture and it makes all the difference.
  • Finally - make it comfortable - the most important feature of a bedroom is whether it's a comfortable space to play and hang out with friends. Use bean bags and cushions or toddler sofas to create a relaxed space that your child will enjoy using.

Good Luck.

My twins are getting ready to move to a toddler bed. Are there any special options for twin toddler beds or do I just have to buy 2 regular ones?

Hi, I've also got twins and I didn't find any great space saving solutions when I moved my boys to beds from their cribs. I did go with toddler beds rather than full beds with a rail as it saved a lot of space and also wasn't such a hard transition for them. I put their beds next to each other and used a double blanket rather than singles so that they felt closer to each other. Good Luck!

Need to know how to convert from crib to toddler bed

Unfortunately Products America does not provide parts to the Jardine cribs due to a recent recall they underwent that covered a large quantity of their cribs. I did check your model number and it IS on the recall list as one of the cribs that has been determined unsafe. You may want to check on that before continuing use of the crib, even in toddler bed form it may be unsafe. Here is the link to the Jardine recall page: http://www.jardinecribrecall.com/
