Samsung RS2556 Side by Side Refrigerator Questions & Answers
Unable to removed samsung aqua-pure water filter
A lot of different brand refrigerators have similar problems to this. I encountered this stuck filter problem on our Samsung side-by-side fridge that has the filter inside the fridge side and above the top shelf towards the back-right corner. Here is the solution that worked for me...
1. Remove the top glass shelf to give yourself extra working room.
2. Put on some rubber cleaning gloves to be able to get a tight grip.
3. Turn the old filter 1/4-turn to the left... it may take quite a bit of force.
4. Pull-down on the old filter to remove it. If it still will not come out, proceed to the next step.
5. After you turn the old filter 1/4-turn to the left and it stops, then get a good grip, because you will need to turn it an additional 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch. The left-edge of one of the vertical molding lines that run down the Aqua Pure filters should be directly under the centering-mark on your water filter holder.
That extra 1/4-inch counter-clockwise turn always seems to do the trick, and then the filter pulls down and out easily. Good luck!

Samsung RS2556 - Refrigerator side is not cooling - Freezer is fine
Ok, what I found out is that there are codes built into the front panel. If you hold the top left and right buttons for 5 seconds, the fridge will reset. If there are no issues, the panel goes blank. If there is a dash in the right side of the panel, there is an issue with the fridge side. In the left, freezer side. The dash indicates a defrost problem. Only a couple of things can cause this. 1. Sensor 2. Heater 3. Fan, 4. control board.
Samsung RS2555SL Not Cooling/Compressor won't start and cycles.
Jonathan is the solution!
It has been 24 hours since my fridgerator has started with the occasional clicking then not cooling. I started on the google hunt and found this website with Jonathan's post. I am a 26 year old female stay at home mom of 2 toddlers. I printed the page of Jonathans success and took it to my local parts store. I purchased the Mars start relay for 16 bucks. I pulled the refrigerator out from the wall and took the back apart and followed Jonathans instructions and I had success. You are a savior! I could never afford a repair man. Thank you so much for your post!!!
Water filter is stuck in unlock position and won't come out
more likely it was in twisted condition when it was turned to luck it or unlock it and stayed in twisted position and will not turn. get a hair dryer and blow the hot air around where it lucks. push filter in and turn to unlock it. hot air expand the lucking plastic cover and it allows for easy turns
Samsung forced defrost
the defrost timer, u can get by and test manually by placing a small screw driver into the tiny slot or hole underneath the timer and turn slowly clockwise till u hear 1 click. this will engage ur defrost cycle in about 15 minutes u should be able to come back and feel the heat in freezer as it melts the ice providing ur terminator is not bad?
Another way to test it is with a multi meter. Remove timer it from fridge and you will see 4 prongs numbered 2,1,4,3 in that order. Place ur meter prong on prong 1 & 3 (if your fridge has a capacitor wired in series with the windings, then u check for micro fares rather than OHMS) If u cannot confirm this test, still try the next.
Take ur meter prong and connect to prong 1 & 4, it should read resistance or ohms ( closed) now remove prongs and place on prong 1 & 2, this should now read infinity or open (no ohms) now take a small screwdriver place it in the tiny hole or slot under the timer. Turn it clockwise slowly till u hear 1 click. Now ur 1& 2 should read closed ( showing ohms or resistance) now place meter prongs on 1 & 4 and you it should now show open ( or no resistance - no ohms) this is how u know ur timer is good, Remember when testing for ohms ADJUST meter to use a high ohms rating in the thousands as the resistance is very high in OHMS. And adjusting to low ohms rating may give a false reading or not show the proper resistance..

Another item to check with a meter is the heating element itself. Located under the evaporator coils. It should show continuity or resistance OHMS WHEN TESTED AT BOTH ENDS OF THE PRONGS .
Freezer making loud sounds
Fan may be hitting something stuck in the compartment or a build up of ice on the fans is it defrosting ok? fan bearings may be bad, remove the back wall from freezer and look at the fan when its on?
Samsung RS2556SH Freezer left open. compressor does not come on.
if door was left open for some time, there may be excess ice build-up on the evaporator which may take more than 2 hours to clear.
two methods to cure
