How do I release the blade on a Pendulum pjs550 jig saw so I can replace it?

Hi Helen, Push the reciprocating head protecting your hand with a glove if necessary. All the way to a center point just above the shoe or table of the tool. Then loosen the two fasteners that bind the blade keep horizontally from the spool head. An Allen head is a six sided wrench. Where a Torque style is a star style. Either equivalent in a T-handled wrench works best. On to removal. Support the spool head from shifting around with one hand whilst torqueing the fastener counter clockwise to remove or loosen it to free the blade. Should the blade be seized or jammed in the well of the spool head. Use a pair of needle nose plyers to free the blade by vigorously shaking then pulling. All of this should be done with the electrical plug removed from power to protect your safety. For me. Safety glasses should always be worn. Part that guides the blade is broken need a new

Search online for black and decker parts using the model number (on the label on the jigsaw). But Black and Decker are manufactured to bot be very durable, its better and probably cheaper to replace it, with almost any other brand. If cost is an issue but a used high quality item on ebay, made by Makita, Hitachi, Bosch or Metabo. Even and old one of these is better than a black and decker.

I had a heck of a time. The set screw was not anywhere I could acess it. Finally figured out that the motor had stopped in the 'up' position. Once I got it back down the set screw was right there.
