Hi sseevers71,
This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. The very common caused of this fault is the leaky electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit, it will also produce sounds like what you heard that is coming from the chopper transformer. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Also, bad solder joints can produce the same symptom, it is hard to spot, you should use table lamp/portable lamp for finding the cold solder. Secondary reason of fault is the microcontroller circuitry. Once you isolated the faulty capacitor your unit will be back to normal again. If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

What capasitors goen in a 47" lg tv and how many.

If this set is under warranty you should return it to get it repaired/replaced by the seller. If not then; This sounds like the power supply board is failing. The electrolytic capacitors on the board may need to be replaced. IF YOU KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH ELECTRONICS REPAIR(soldering ) or have a friend with knowledge/skill you can fix it. >Unplug the set and any cables. >Remove the back cover. >look at the capacitors on the power supply board. If the top of any of them are bulging up then that is the problem. >You will have to replace ALL the electrolytic capacitors. >Disconnect and remove the power supply board. Handle by the edges to prevent contaminates and static electricity.> Use ones with the Low Equivalent Series Resistance ESR rating> Use ones with the same farad rating > Use ones with the same or higher voltage rating> Use ones with high temperature rating> Install one at a time to prevent mix-up and keep the polarity correct. > Leave a space between the PC board and the bottom of the capacitors for expansion. They heat up.> Replace power supply board and reconnect cables..> Replace back cover. THIS IS AN INDUSTRY WIDE PROBLEM AFFECTING MANY COMPANIES AND PRODUCTS. Sources for some good capacitors are www.digikey.com or NTE. Try nteinc.com for a local outlet of NTE products. You can also search for other sources. Some companies even sell all the capacitors in a kit. Total price of parts should be < $30.00 Yes you can buy a new power board but if the capacitors have not been replaced they will eventually fail also. It will look something like; 003134.jpg

Hi i have an lg 37lc7d-ub but my screen just

Sorry Joshua.... there is no easy replacement option and you are better off just replacing the set than trying to have it fixed- chances are it will never be the same even if you could find a replacement screen (I have my doubts that they are even available), and the "fix" will most likely exceed the cost of a new set. I have not cracked open an HDTV case yet to see for myself (and probably never will), but my understanding is that there are several thousand connections bonded between the rear of the screen and the control board, which lies up against it, and the bonding is performed in a clean room environment.

Sorry.

How do you connect a vizio sound bar to the tv

plug in the power to each unit with the provided power adapters, turn the sound bar and subwoofer on, activate the wireless subwoofer link by pressing a button on the soundbar (or remote) and subwoofer, and connect an audio source to either the provided analog or digital audio inputs on the soundbar
Note: When using the Digital Optical input, set source device audio out to PCM

(you can hook to ur tv if it has a R/L audio output, or u can also connect it if your tv has a toslink style digital output. (most LCD and Plasma TV's have them.))

When TV is turned on, it turns it self off and on

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

Yes, you are correct - S-video does not have provisions for audio - it is strictly video. To connect audio, you need two RCA cables, normally colored red and white, right and left respectively. Connect output to input from the source to the destination. The source is the DVD audio out and the destination is the TV audio in.
