Scrolling down to page 8 of the instructions (Troubleshooting) indicates that if the lever will not fully retract, then the lock is either not full engaged with the latch or is misaligned, or that the lock is not centered on the door.

I recommend that you call during business hours and explain your problem. I'm sure they will be able to advise you on this. Be sure to have any relevant model/ serial numbers as you are able to provide. There is more than one version of the DL2700.
