String does not seem to
These things can be very sensitive with how the sting is coiled on the spool. Take your time and try to get it perfect. Look at the pre strung replacement spools for an example. also inspect the lever, usually under where the spool sits. Make sure its not to dirty and moves freely. After that when you want it to feed quickly pull and release the trigger a couple times. If you dont want it to feed the when you pull the trigger be sure to maintain how far you have it pulled back, then release it a little slower than usual. Lastly wait a few seconds before pulling again. If this doesnt work the lever may be worn out and defective. But they are super cheap and easy to replace.

Remove the shaft and pull the drive shaft cable out and check to see if its broken or stripped at the ends.

No power when wheel spins
You may have a broken drive shaft. Some are braided and flexable and used on curved shaft units. The solid shaft is used on most straight shaft units. Remove the string head and pull the shaft out to look at the ends to see if they are broken or stripped. George

I have a Homelite trimmer
Sometimes even if the diaphram and gaskets look ok they may not be. If the diaphram is stretched or distorted even a little they wont work properly, same for gaskets and other parts of the carb. sometimes the littlest things can make a big difference. I would try a complete rebuild kit and while everything is out of the carb. spray the carb real good and then lite-ly blow out the carb. with an air hose also if you take a twist tie from bread and take off half of the paper from the wire and carefully probe all holes in carb. that might do the trick for ya. After you put the high and low adjustment needles back in (if your zama carb. is set up with them) you'll want to set the low needle (after turning all the way in till it just bottoms) at 1 and 1/4 turns out and the high at just about 1and 1/2 turns out, then while running make final adjustments.

Need help reconnecting fuel lines
One fuel line (the on with the filter in the end of it) comes out of the fuel tank and goes to the bottom fitting on the carburator. The other hose comes out of the tank and goes to the bottom fitting on the primer bulb. A third section of fuel line goes from the top fitting on the primer bulb to the top fitting on the carburator. Hope this helped and best wishes.
