Toro Lawn Mower With Toro Power Tools - Page 5 Questions & Answers
How do i get my toro gts-5 550 lawn mower to keep running?
The problem is likely varnish buildup in the carb. Add PAINT THINNER ( yes, I meant to say that !) to the gas. Use 1.5 ounces each of Xylol ( Xylel) and Acetone per 10 gallons of gas ( 5 gal. can will use 3/4 ounce each ).Drain gas tank and carb float bowl. Add fresh gas mixed with thinners. Remove air cleaner element and use quick starting fluid with upper cylinder lubricant to start mower, and keep it running with SHORT bursts of starting fluid until it will run on its own. You may also need to replace or clean air filter if it is old or dirty. continue procedure for 5 minutes or so. Remember to run Sta-bil fuel stabilizer through the system before you shut down for the season, as this will prevent the varnish build up.
I've been using thinner in all of my engines ( gas, pre mix, and diesel ) for a few years with no bad side effects. I've ridden over 15,000 miles on my motorcycle - getting better mileage and power, and not having to buy premium gas either.
Hope this helps!!
My 1998 cbr900rr isnt geting spark why
Try new plugs, wires, ect... look for shorts or anything that is grounding out. Also make sure that you have the right gap on the new spark plug, that can be a big problem. And don't forget to look for any rust or build up that could stop that electrical current.
Idle adjustment
I do not think this will cause any damage. If it starts and runs fine I think you did a good thing.
Starts runs min. or two then stops....
Go to toro.com then click customer care, then click manuals and parts. Type in model no. and download the owners manual. This should get you the spark and flywheel gap. Probably still something in the carb. Some orifices are very hard to find and to clean but they must be clean. Also check for dirt dopper nest in the muffler.
HOW DO YOU RELACE THE DRIVE BELT ON A TORO GT2200
Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug. Remove all belt guards. If you need to tip the mower on its side, make sure you tip the side up that has the crankcase breather. If you have a sealed gas cap, use it, or you might spill gas. You might have to drop the axle that the belt goes to.
