This has happened to me. Check the contact points in the base of the machine. Ours had some corrosion on them. I took an emery board and filed the corrosion off to clean the contact points.

My Guess is that the reletive humidity in the room is not low enough to see any vapors coming from the machine. Normaly you won't see these anyway. Some models in the stores seem to make more mist than what you get at home. If the humididty level in a room is close to what is coming out of the machine there will be no signs of any mist coming out. Just make sure the filters are clean and check and make sure the water level is going down on the machine and this will tell you its workin. the faster you are using the water in the tank the more you are putting in the air! If this is a hot mist machine then I would say the heating element in the machine is not working.

From the quick research that I did I'm finding 100 hours. That will vary very significantly depending on the mineral content (hardness) of your water. If you have alot of mineral in your water the filter may have to be changed much more often to maintain good operation of the unit.

As awkward as it sounds tap water is bad for the unit, Try buying store bought water. If this does not help you will need to change the filter in the system also you can set the desired humidity level to 60% so it will keep pumping if you still have an issue with the product refer to your manufacture.
