I own Garmin edge 705
I
Sounds like your battery has gone bad to me. I also own a garmin. I would suggest you contact garmin for repairs. You can go to their web site at www.garmin.com go to the top of the page where it says My garmin and log in to your account. If you don't have one then sign up for one its free. Then contact technical support either by email or by phone to get your unit repaired.
I hope this helps you out if it does please give me a YES on the web page you just received my response on. Thank you

Have you contacted garmin yet? If it is brand new its under warranty by them and they will send you an RMA number and take it in for repairs. Go to Garmins website www.garmin.com at the top of the page click on My garmin log in with your user name and password. If you don't have an account set up then do so its free. Then contact Technical support either by email or by phone to make arrangements to get your repair. You may have to pay shipping one way to get it to them but from there your warranty should cover any repairs that are needed to your unit.
I hope this help you out if it does please say Yes on the page you received my response on. Thank you

Emailed the local support desk who said send it in!!! That means no f.....g computer for at least 10 days, what are they bloody smoking. Fat pain in the *** for us, easy for them. I have a cardiac condition that demands I monitor my heart rate and only bought this pricy tool so I could do that at night (with the backlight) when I do most of my riding. I have already sent the thing in before when it was still new and failed to power up. It was returned repaired after a week but it had lost my code for the installed, EXPENSIVE map, which I could not reload and that took another 2 weeks before I hooked up with the 6th tec contact who was able to help.
ANYWAY!
I left the thing unplugged for a few days while waiting to get organised to send it in and it reset itself and is now working-without having to send it in.....I suppose until the next crash.
Happy riding all!
Sorry but honestly...Since GARMIN launch the EDGE
Edge 205 or 305 or 705 or 605 often crash, then impossible to power on again.
Here is the way to reset the Garmin edge :
Soft reset : hold mode and lap/reset buttons for 10 seconds
Hard reset : device should be powered down, hold start and mode buttons for 3 seconds then pulse press the lap/reset button.
After soft reset, you need to hold start button for up to 10 secs before it starts.
After hard reset, you will loose all your data, including profiles.
