Krups XP7230 Compact Super Automatic Espresso Machine Questions & Answers
How do we get past a message to remove/ refill the water tank?
ChoccyBar,
THANK YOU. You're answer was so helpful. I have the XP7230 and all of the sudden had exact same problem, machine wouldn't not register a full tank. After reading this I checked the floating piece and saw that it was not floating with a full tank like it is supposed to. Had to obstruct it to keep it afloat as well, and voila, it worked.
Ahh... what a relief to have my machine working again. Coffee has never tasted so good.
Krups automatic espresso machine error 0E
You need a special Torx screwdriver to access the insides of this machine, T10 and T15 from memory. Your best bet is to find a proper service agent who has experience with this model, they are NOT simple to work on. There are a lot of repairers who will not take them on so choose someone who is happy to do it and has experience on them. Best person would be whoever does them for Krups in your locality. The failure is nothing at all to do with you, it was going to happen no matter who was using it. The luckiest fault I can think of for you is a broken O ring seal on the tamping piston, you only need the top off to fix that. If it is that seal buy the correct part, they are quite a soft seal by comparison the what you get in a box of assorted O rings.
Leaking xp7240
There are many places for the water to leak out the bottom on those. You are going to need to remove the covers and have a look. Is the water clean or is it part of your brew? In order of most likely to least likely
1) Barista seal at bottom of brew chamber
2) Distributor
3) Tank seal
4) Tamping piston seals
5) Flexible hose or connection
6) Hydraulic Ram
7) Relief valve on end of pump
You are not going to figure it out with the covers on and you will have great difficulty running it with covers off to be certain where it is coming from but that is what most of those issues is going to require.

I have a Krups XP 7230 Expresso Machine. Water is...
I have a xp7240 which I believe has the same housing as yours. I can remove the bean container by pulling off the grind selector knob and removing the only screw.
Then remove the scute for the cleaning tablets. Then remove the two screws that were covered by the scute. Remove the water tank. Under the tank remove the two screws.
Then the trick where everyone seems to look for: The facade of aluminum can be moved off. Set the machine on the floor and pull hard upwards at the facade. This comes off (pull hard!) and four screw are uncovered. Remove them and pull then back housing of the machine (remove first the containers/drawers). Now the inner parts are freely accessible. Take photos and remove the components from top till bottom to get to the bad parts that need replacement. The valve that leaks is on the bottom of the machine (will cost you a lot of time to get to it. Don't know the replacement price.) Good luck!
My water recipient is full,
Lucky for you the problem probably doesn't lie with the machine but the water tank. Inside the tank there is a flow meter (that little black box). That black box contains a pc board that connects to the machine to tell it how much water is currently available. If that piece does not work properly and the flow meter does not rise (inside, you can't really see it) when water is put into the tank, your machine will think there is not water available to make espresso. Try replacing the tank first then go from there.
Krups XP7230 - I am
no you are not missing a screw. There are two clips on the back that keep the top on even after the screws on top are removed. These can be seen by removing the paper manual and looking up to see two slots about a half inch each. I ended up pulling hard and the top came off. But I think a flathead screwdriver might also help separate the clip with little force.good luckjt
How to remove casing of Krups XP7220
Hey there! I just got my XP apart. I need to replace my plunger due to leakage also. Can you tell me where you found one?
Do you have a service manual? Thanks, Trig
