Nikon Coolpix L18 suddenly states that card is not formatted.

Sounds as if the card is corrupted - you will have to use data recovery software.

Black Screen

Do more internet searches of your model. Sounds like the sensor chip died. Pretty expensive part. Could have not liked the salty environment or you are just unlucky. Do the search until you give up as there is a lot of info on internet. Cameras are getting pretty cheap now so if it is a little old or cheaper model, you may do better with a forced "upgrade".

How do I delete all pictures from my Coolpix L 18

Is there not a button with an icon of a bin next to it on your camera? You could also just hook your camera up to a computer, browse to the folder, select all the pictures and delete them like that.

Prongs inside mini usb port on camera nikon d40 bent

best thing to do is send it in for repairs but if your confident in opening it up then just make sure you take note of exactly how you opened up so you are able to put it back together again and then carefully bend the pins straight or how ever they were originally remember if over bent you run the risk of snapping the pins and then you will have to (and this is not often very easy to do)source the unit and then have the skills of soldering and this is also not very easy

How to bring up photos on my computer from camera.

you will need the usb cable to connect your camera to your pc and when you connect them the software should install either automatically or if the camera came with a cd you will need to insert the cd and install the software yourself then when you open the program that was installed it should give you an option to view the photos or to sync them with the pc and if this is not the case when you connect the camera if you open my computer there should be another drive where you see your C: drive

Why does the date/time on my L18 keep changing itself

This indicates that the built-in battery of the camera is damaged.(All digital cameras have a tiny built-in battery) Replace that battery and you'll be OK. Don't ask me how to do that change. Get the manufacturer to point you to the location of that built-in battery or put it to a service centre.

After 4 or 5 photos I get `out of memory`.

Are you using your cameras built in memory or an add on memory card? Your camera comes with a very small built in memory. If that is all you have, you will run out of memory quickly. You need to buy a large memory card (8Gb or more) for your camera and go in your camera's menu to make sure that the camera is set to write your pictures to the add on card rather then the camera's internal memory.

I received this camera a few years ago as a gift.

you might have cooked it..... fresh alkaline batteries carry a voltage of about 1.7v. try turning it on/off multiple times to see if it will clear the fault.
