My CURTIS DVD 8017 is not working. The battery

Hello,

The reason your player is not working could be as a result of a faulty power panel or the main board.

To test the panel,

open the player from the bottom with the appropriate screwdriver,

get a meter reader and test all the components of the player,

start with the power pack and the main board to see if any capacitor is faulty,

once you detect the faulty component,

replace the board,

couple the player back together,

plug the player to a power source,

ensure the power source is at the level of current the player can work with.

do not expose to a very high current.

take care.

Curtis DVD8007C says "No disc"

never heard of powered up on caps. But first try using and IRIS cleaner to remove dirt and dust from the laser eye. The disk has a brush embedded in it and is just run like a normal disk. It sweeps the dirt fromm the eye and then SHOULD be able to see it really does have a disk.

I lost my ac charger and need to know where to order a new one

I think the DVD Player was made for Target, you might be able to go there and find one and get the info off the power supply (charger) and take the unit and the info to Radio Shack for a replacement. If they can not help try calling MCM Electronics at 1-800-543-4330

Curtis DVD8017 portable dvd player

Try cleaning the DVD lens with a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol. The DVD lens is what emits the laser from the unit. Let it dry and try again. Also try using a different DVD. Let us know if it worked and don't forget to rate me :)

My Brand new never used Curtis dvd 8017

Give it a about 24 hours. It might need to declimatize. Also, thry charging the battery pack first and/or try turning it on with the power adapter only (battery pack off the unit). If this does nothing, they to get or borrow a voltmeter to make sure the power adapter is giving out a votage. This will troubleshoot wether it is the unit or the adapter. Let us know how it went.

No Sound

Dear 68jph

Right your problem either stems from the menu settings that are incorrect/ silent mode, or your speakers are damaged, the other option is that no sound output is being achieved through any speakers you fit (this is a more serious problem).

Now depending on your type of fault cause, will depend on how technically and electronically minded you will have to be, and also on cost factor (whether it is a finacial interest to spend repairing the unit, or replacing it).

Now firstly, i would check your sound settings in the menu and also turn your volume dial, button/ switch on to full. Although this is plainly obious, it is surprising how many times a simple issue like this is overlooked in favour of a more serious fault, and for no reason at all.

Next up, i would remove the speakers and test the unit on another set of speakers of the same output, if the test speakers work, then the original speakers from your unit MUST BE discarded or overhauled. now discarding them is the easier option because of cost, but you can take them to a place that will recycle them, or post them to the centre in question.

Lastly, if you have a circuit board issue, then this is potentially critical, and the cost and time to repair the unit may often be outweighed by the cost and ease of just condemning the unit and replacing it, now if you do condemn the product, you can always make some money back towards the cost of a new product by putting the faulty device on an online auction.

Now if you do decide to repair this yourself, start by checking wwww.google.com and seeing what others have to say about the product, and also look for the service/ repair manuals for this manufactured product.

I wish you best of luck in whatever of these decisions you decide to take, and if you need further advice or assistance, then please do not hesitate to contact me,

best regards

yours sincerely

Stops playing

If the warranty is already expired, and you have some spare time, VERY carefully, remove the screws on your player and look for dust. This could be causing overheating. Also, if it freezes, try feeling for hot spots. A blown fuse could be causing this and you may be throwing away a 2 dollar fix. If this does not help, bring it to your nearest technical assistance provider and tell them your situation.
