I have had the exact same problem with my 47LG70 after 13 months of use. I changed my remote control sensor but it did not help. Before you do that, try something simple which seems irrelevant. On this website, others have posted success by plugging in any standing set of headphones into the remote control or headphone jack on the rear TV panel. This solved my problem. So I proceeded to thoroughly dust all of the input/output component jacks on the rear and side of the TV with an air-can. This solved my problem and I do not need to have the headphones plugged in. I bought one also from ALDI for my son's Xbox 360, it is only 3 weeks in use and I have the same problem. Just change the board unless its just a fuse that is blown

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. My lg 37lc7d is having the same problem. My backlight is on but no display. Also the standby light blinks several times then the screen goes on but it's just all black. No a/v

The inverter board is responsible for the backlight.

When the screen goes blank, dim the lights in the room. Take a bright flashlight and shine it on the panel. If you see a faint picture, you have a backlight failure
