Why is there no power to my Traeger grill

There is a fuse that you can check. There is a possibility that it is the ignitor, the auger motor, the controller, or the fan. The process to tell which item is bad, is to disconnect all but the power and the RTD wire, plug it in and turn it to smoke, If the fuse blows it is the controller, if not turn it off and start hooking up the other wires one at a time, When you find the one that fries the fuse, you know what is bad.

I turned off my grill

Whenever you finish using your Traeger it is always best to lift the lid and turn the controller down to the smoke setting and allow the temp to drop for a few minutes. This will also slow down the delivery of fresh pellets into your firepot thus starving the fire of fuel.Once the temp drops below 200 deg F than shut off the controller. If you have any wind blowing remove your Traeger out of the draft of the wind and the fire will go out on its own.

The lid won't close all the way on my Traeger grill - there is a 1/2 gap at the bottom. The grill is about 3 months old - Tried to adjust the hinges at the top with no effect - any ideas?

Was the grill over heated? Check with the seller to see if there is any type of warranty.

Traeger grill overheating on smoke setting

Make sure you are leaving it open long enough when you first turn it on. Everything in the smoke chamber needs to burn up before you begin. There also may be grease buildup in the bottom of your smoker that is catching on fire. If neither of these two possibilities work, contact Traeger support https://www.traegergrills.com/support

Traeger is on smoke setting yet overheating to over 400 degrees

There is probably grease in the bottom of the barrel that is catching on fire. You need to clean it out.

Treager smoke auger won't turn

If the auger won't turn because it's jammed, here's details direct from Treager treager-smoke-auger-turn-2xyy4ak2ishhqrxtr0fk0i44-4-0.png Elswise, I would check your electrical on the back of your control panel. There should be three sets of two-wire leads: (1) Purple/White=Hot Rod; (2) Orange/White=Induction Fan; and (3) Red/White=Auger. Obviously, check the Red/White leads for voltage and continuity.

Nothing works, no fan, no auger

Sounds like no power. Is it plugged into a GFI circuit that might have tripped. On its website in the FAQs Traeger mentions that if pellets get wet, this can cause a GFI circuit to trip and they suggest a specific remedy. Check out their website at http://www.traegergrills.com/ and if necessary contact their service techs who can help you troubleshoot.

My traeger smokes but won't heat up...I have it on high...not smoke.

Have you cleaned the ash out of the firepot? I clean mine with a shop vac after every five or six uses because the ash builds up and "insulates" the fire, keeping air from the fan reaching it so it just smolders and never really gets hot.

Our traeger smokes but the fan does not run consistantly?

The fan is not supposed to run consistently. The purpose of the fan is to help control the temperature. It runs hard at first to help get the fire started then it slows down to maintain the temperature you've set. If you change to a higher temperature or if the temperature drops below what you've set, the fan will run faster causing the fire to burn hotter. You'll also find that as the temperature increases the amount of smoke will decrease.

On smoke setting my temp goes up over 300 degrees

Traeger suggests realignment of the augur for grills that are not getting hot enough. I wonder if this might be the same solution for grills that are getting too hot. Here's their solution which I copied from the Traeger website at http://www.traegergrills.com/. I've been noticing that my grill temperature keeps dropping lower. What is the problem?

You need to "true" your auger. To do this:

  1. Run the unit out of pellets.
  2. Remove the allen screw and nut out of the auger and motor shaft.
  3. Try spinning the auger shaft over the motor shaft. The auger shaft should spin freely over the motor shaft without binding.
  4. If the auger binds, loosen the 7/16th inch bolts on the motor bracket and move bracket until you can rotate the auger shaft over the motor shaft. Then re-tighten 7/16th inch bolts. Make sure auger shaft still rotates over motor shaft, or repeat step 4 again until it does.
  5. Reattach auger and motor shafts using the screw and nut which you removed in step 2.
You might want to contact Traeger at their website to verify that this is a solution for overheating. In the above case, the improperly aligned augur was not dropping enough pellets in the firepot. In your case, it sounds like it may be dropping too many. This sounds like a routine maintenance thing that ought to be done periodically anyway.
