PLease follow the steps below

1.Turn on a desired device (e.g.,VCR or DVD player) and, if
applicable, insert media (e.g., cassette or disc).

2. On the remote control, press a device key once (i.e., DVD/VCR,
CBL/SAT,or TV).

NOTE: To program control of a VCR, PVR (or DVR),TV/VCR Combo,
or TV/VCR/DVD Player Combo press DVD/VCR once.After programming
a VCR Combo device, you will be able to control channel selection,
volume, and VCR functions.
NOTE: To program control of a DVD Player,DVD Player/VCR
Combo, or TV/DVD Player Combo, press DVD/VCR once.After programming
a DVD Combo device, you will be able to control channel
selection, volume, and DVD functions.
NOTE: To program control of a Cable Box, Cable Box/PVR (or DVR)
Combo, Satellite Receiver, or a Satellite Receiver/PVR (or DVR)
Combo, press CBL/SAT once.

3. Press and hold SET until the LED (red light) blinks twice,
then release SET.

4. Use the Manufacturer’s Codes to locate the type of device and brand name and then enter
the first four-digit code for your device. If performed correctly,
the LED will blink twice.

5. Aim the remote control at the device and press POWER
once.The device should turn off. If it does not, repeat
steps 2 through 5, trying each code for your brand until
you find one that works.

i've tried to do this with my remote(the 9-1-1 trick) however after pressing tv, when i hold set, the light does not blink at all...just stays red until it times out. My television is a seiki brand..there doesn't seem to be any support for this brand at all :(

If you wish to buy a genuine remote control, you have to contact the authorized service center. If you wish to buy a universal remote control, you should know about, which brand remote control have set-up codes to your TV brand, and buy that one according to availability. The first thing you have to do is, to confirm the number of digits in the setup codes to your TV brand. There are 4 digit, 5 digit, 3 digit and even 2 digit codes. You can make it sure by entering '0s' at the code enter window the TV dispays, and asks codes. Enter 'Zeros', and count how many zeros can be enterd. That number will be the number of digit of setup code, the TV/Device need. If you can enter 5 zeros, the number of digit in the set-up code to your TV is a '5' digit one, if only 2 zeros can be enterd, the number of digits in the set-up code to your TV should be a 2 digit one, and so on.. I was looking for hours online, I looked on these kinds of sites at least twenty times and tried all the suggested codes and websites and it didn't work, but I finally used 0171 for my URC-3220 universal remote control and it worked :).
