Hannstar I-Inc TW-191D Monitor Questions & Answers
My TW191D Monitor will not power on. It was sudden
Maybe bad caps (capacitors) you need to be familiar with high voltage(200VDC iguess, here it is 400VDC) to do anything of your own.It would be nice if all badcaps are bulged/leaking. Changing the lamps is a pain in the ass, i will try it myself with an 191d. But i have tried first the power supply with multimeter capable of 100kHz AC 200mV range. Better if you borrow an ESR meter capable of in circuit measurement and test all condensators.Allways discharge, disconnect from pc, switch iMonitor on and pull wall plug, push ON button for safety. My 400V capacitor is then down to 7VDC (germany 230VAC mains). Or wait for 30 min, (i am not patient enough for that).

I have an defective HW191d too. The CCFL are used up(bought it for 5Euro as defect)
What is the colour of a white screen when it is on? Mine is yellowish/reddisch.
No picture, led blinking yellow and blue
Its noting to do with capaitors the EEPROM has been corrupted not sure how this happens as the write protect for the eeprom is under the control of the cpu and not hard wired.
I have repaired three of these monitors all with the same fault no components were required just the eeprom re flashed.
The EEPROMs are very cheap so I will buy a few and pre programm them for others wishing to repair there own monitors.
WHEN I TURN THE MONITOR VERTICALLY THE PICTURE
Hi!
That monitor does not automatically change its orientation. If you want to change the orientation you could press ctrl + alt and any directional button (up, down, left or right). This will work on some video cards. you can check the orientation as well in the advanced display properties.

You have a nice day.

More likely the power supply is dying due to bad caps, it will get worst and may not start anymore and causes more damages to other circuits.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you.
Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

Monitor power button just flashes
If you have the power button "on" on the monitor and you unplug the vga cable from your monitor you should get a messege about the cable being unplugged. Sometime the inverter in the monitor can go out and you will be left with a very dim screen or no image at all. You can call up a local computer store and see if they can test the monitor for you. Taking the monitor into a repair shop will more then likely cost you more then a new monitor. I would check to see if the monitor is still under warranty or simply just replace it.
Best of luck..
