Remove bottom and rear panel icemaker if so equipped there is a drain hole on the right-hand side next to the Styrofoam vents for the airflow that was blocked with ice

Check to see if the drain line is clogged .you have to take the covet off the freezer to get to the drain .
If it's cover in ice pour hot water down to make sure it is clear .
Next you could have a bad defrost time .
Locate your timer and change it out

Hello All. I would like to add my findings. My fridge WBM46LS of 11 years started behaving exactly as the OP described. I tried all the suggestions regarding holding buttons, power off etc to no avail. I even found an online manual here https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/view/18647891/whirlpool-uk-refrigerator-models-wbm35lw-wbm35ls-/5 But that did not address the problem at all. So I went back to someones suggestion about the Potency Module. I pulled the fridge out and unscrewed the cover at the bottom left to get access to the Potency module.(Red plastic box) Without even pulling it open I could smell the burnt electronics. I opened up the case and found a scorch mark next to the big capacitor on the circuit board. So far, so good. Given that a new fridge of the same size/style is about $1300 I pursued the spare part. I then tracked down a supplier in Melbourne with a new board/module for $148.50. P# WPP326020913 Plugged in the new board in and fired up the fridge and its working just like new. So I am happy now that a perfectly good fridge is up and working again.

COULD BE EITHER OR. NEED TO TEST WITH A MULTI METER CHECK THE ICE MAKER WATER LEVEL SWITCH, SEE PICS

are u sure its from freezer? if u have bad door rubber seals? and air gets in, then it will condensate and cause water in the fridge. if water comes in from freezer then I would say u should have not much cold in fridge as a result of bad defrost therminator

Something is causing it to trip. Could be a bad control panel. Go to partsselect.com & put in your model#.

In most cases you want the freezer to be as close to -20 F degrees as possible and the refrigerator between +36 to +38 degrees F.

With signs of freezing up in freezer area that would indicate a problem with the defrost components. blocked air flow from freezer to fridge. Could be ice build up. May have a faulty auto defroster. Freexer is only part that gets cold. The fridge gets it cooling from the freezer.

Did you inspect if the hole in the drain inside the fridge at the bottom is not blocked? Try to clean it with a swab. Sometimes this causes a "leakage" of condensed water.

Put a vinegar in plate and put the plate in the freezer. Leave it for few hour. Works better if refrigerator switched off . I always do that with my refrigerator & my micro-oven (careful not to turn ON while vinegar inside - i don't what will happen).

The most likely problem is in the defrost system. Behind the freezer panel there is not only an evaporator fan, but also the evaporator itself, and a defrost heater, termination bi-metal, and drain pan (or trough). You will likely find ice build-up in the evap coil. This could be caused by the defrost timer, the heater, or the termination bi-metal.
Have a service tech look at the unit.

Could be that the freezer is too full with foodstuff and there is no air circulation, therefor, some places in the freezer build ice. The defroster is working and melting the ice that drips to the bottom bins.I suggest you remove everything from the freezer. unplug the frigde. Let all ice build ups melt. Remove ice from the foodstuff and put back in. Make sure that vents in the freezer and fridge are not blocked.

I HAD THE SAME ISSUE EVERY FEW MONTHS. REMOVE THE BACK COVER IN THE FREEZER, YOU WILL SEE A SILVER TRY WITH MOST LIKELY ICE IN IT. THAW THAT ICE AND THERE IS A DRAIN HOLE IN IT. USING A HAIR DRIER GET THE TUBE TO THAW ALSO. ONCE WATER IS FLOWING TAKE A PIECE OF 12 GAUGE BARE COPPER WIRE AND SLIP IT ABOUT 18" INTO THE HOLE. WRAP THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIRE AROUND THE WIRE COIL YOU SEE WHICH IS THE DEFROSTER. WHEN IT WARMS IT WILL HEAT THE WIRE ALSO AND KEEP THE DRAIN CLEAR
