I had the same problem. You need a brake kit. it holds the drum still while in the agitate mode. the centrifical force of the water during that slow spin is causing the water to spill over the top of your drum. easy and cheap fix.

not only do you have a loud roar but it's leaking small amounts of water thru the top seal and into the spin brg . top brg and seal will have to be replaced .. the pump may be ok they donot make noise and the belt is normal mantaince . the idler just oil it . . the parts that you stated are in the lower part of the maching and the brg is just under the outer tub . .. and just for your info the pump runs both in spin and agit . so why does it not make noise in the wash ? so back to basic the top brg is only going in the spin and they get noisey whe water get s in them .. we do a lot of these and trust me the top brg is your problem . mm hope this helps ... feed back pls and thanks for ysing fix ya .

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that replacing the bearing should solve the issue however, you can also check the pulley and the brake pads. I dont think they should be bad as if they are bad washer should be making some noise but still would recommend you to check them. Also check this diagram for more information:

If your washer does not drain you need to check this parts.

1. Inspect the drain hose for kinks
2. Test the timer control
3. Test the lid switch(some models)
4. Inspect the water pump
5. Inspect the drive belt(belt drive only)
6. Inspect the motor coupler

The AMANA washer has an outer tub and a water pump. Please check these to make sure you can see where the leak is coming from and replace. Also, if your machine has a dispensing system, check all hoses for THAT system. If upon fill up the out tyub HOLDS WATER and DOES NOT Leak, then the outer tub is okay. Carefullky look at the water pump on drain.

somewhere attatched to the tub/lower water hose is something called a pressure chamber- this will need cleaning out. its identified by a plastic/rubber tube leading from it to a higher switch/unit. in the first instance you can blow some compressed air down the tube to see if that helps. it seems that you may need to do more hot washes. remember isolate machine.

you may have blockage in the drain pipe several feet from washer. if you can run spin cycle with hose in different location ex. tub,sink or outdoors. if this works run long snake down washer drain pipe to clean gypsum residual.
