RCA TruFlat 27F520T 27" TV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

ok this totally stressed me out but I figured it out and my TV is ON!! I purchased a really cheap universal remote at a .99 cent store. Sat in front of the TV and followed the directions on the manual for my new remote, keep in mind there was a red light lit on the TV, when all directions on connecting the remote with the TV were complete I pressed on and the TV turned on. The means the deflection is not working, there is a coil of wire around the neck of the tube, it is run by a transistor. This transistor has probably gone bad

sounds like a power fault, prob just weak capacitors if you can change them it would not cost a lot to replace them, when you change channel it draws more power and if its at its limit it will turn off as the capacitors cannot take it. few £'s or $s to get the replacement capacitors, you will probably see the blown capacitors on the power board as the will not have flat tops they will be rounded, change them same for same i.e 16v 330 for same 105c type would be best. it will say this on the capacitor.

Install an IR Remote App in android phone. The app link below worked for me to remove the fpa lock on. Configure the App for your RCA TV. Set TV as Device type, RCA as the brand. and choose the model (e.g., TV 20 F420T) also, select the Alternate IR Driver. All the options of the command may appear in a list form. Close that and an actual remote with buttons should appear. Then Power your tv will turn ON. Press the Menu. Pressing the Channel Down/Up Button to navigate to Preferences. Press OK button on the screen.. Then Navigate to FPA Lock. Press OK again. THis will turn the FPA Lock to Off. 1. Press menu for main menu.
2. Press CH + or CH - to highlight preferences.
3. Press "OK" to enter preferences submenu.
4. Press CH + or CH - to high light "FPA"
5. Press VOL + or VOL - to turn the FPA on or off.
6. Press MENU repeatedly to exit.
7. Back to normal

• FPA stands for Front Panel Lock. It makes it so kids don't push all the buttons on the front of your TV. The power button on the TV will still work and the remote will still function as normal.

You can usually still turn the tv on and off with a remote

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it.
