When I turn my TI-84 (Silver Edition) on the screen reads "RAM Cleared". What does this mean and how can I fix it? Or is it even possible to so do?
Ok I had this problem all of a sudden and I kinda flipped out, but...I DID FIND A WAY TO FIX IT, all i was hit it against my pillow and bed for like 5 secs and it suddenly worked again. lol its a miracle! But try it and u never know..it worked for me.
( O yea, make sure its on the "Ram Cleared" screen, then beat it against your bed or something soft)

You answered my question but the comma key on the TI-84 plus siver edition is not seen over top of the #7 key. Where do I find it?
The comma key on the TI 84 SE is above the 7 key, and it is just left of (, right of x squared, and below SIN. thats where the "," key is. If you're asking something else, please clearify. My understanding is that you don't know where the comma key is.

how do i convert binary in ti84 calculator
Sorry, but you cannot. However there is a program that you can download and install on your calculator. YOU DO THAT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

For some reason my calculator is stuck in
"Waiting...
Please install operating system now."
and after a duration of time it says:
"ERROR!
Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit back on."
Suggestions please? It wont even let me connect to TI Connect now
The best way to solve this problem is to get a 2nd TI-84 to link into with the linking USB cable. Then turn on working calc press the 2nd button then link button (or the XTON) variable button. Scroll up to option G: SEND OS "DO NOT HIT ENTER YET" and then remove and replace one battery from the non-working unit. NEXT press enter on working unit to SEND OS.

Both of my TI-84 Silver Editions have incorrect values for the sin/cos/tan functions. A lot of times the values come up negative. Any idea as to what is going on? I have tried clearing the RAM but it didn't fix the problem.
Ex: sin(37)= -.6435381334
What is so surprising? The sine and cosine functions have ranges that span the closed interval [-1,1]. As to the tangent function, its range is the the whole real line.
This being said, you should keep in mind that there are three angle units: the degree, the radian, and the grad.
When you want to calculate the sine, cosine, or tangent of a number, that number is not just a number. It is an angle, and as an angle it has a unit.
For this reason a calculator generally has two angle units defined (degree and radian), and possibly the grad. BEFORE calculating any trigonometric function you must ascertain that the angle is in the correct unit.
Clearly, in the problem you are trying to solve angle values are given in degrees, but your calculator is configured to interpret angles values in radians.
To set the default angle unit to degree press [MODE] , then press down arrow twice to reach the line (radian, degree). Highlight the word degree and press [ENTER] to set the default angle unit to degree.
Unfortunately the TI 8xPLUS family of calculators does not have a status bar on screen to remind you of the modes, and if you do not remember to check the current unit you get errors (at least unexpected results).
However, there is a way to avoid the errors and that is to enter the unit explicitly after the angle value. To do that you press [2nd][APPS] to open the (ANGLE) menu list. Try it.
By selecting the degree symbol and pressing [ENTER}, that symbol echoes on the screen just after the angle value. Closing the right parenthesis of the trigonometric function and pressing [ENTER] will give you the result in the correct unit of your choice. This can be done regardless of the default unit the calculator is configured for.

Press MODE. On the fourth line highlight POL and press ENTER. Press 2ND [QUIT] to exit. Now the X,T,theta,n key just below the MODE key will give you theta.

Put all new batteries in, It turns on and looks like its working but turns off right away. I can press numbers, and sometimes they'll show up, but it always turns off right away. Please help I have a test to take soon!
I had the same problem like yours. First, I reset the RAM and then it no longer turned off right away; but it responded extremely slowly. Second, I tried to install the new OS for it, but unsuccessful until I blowed really hard several times into the round connector. After that, the cursor started blinking. Finally, I downloaded the new OS into it and hoped that the problem never happen again.
You go to http://education.ti.com and follow their procedures to reset the RAM.

my ti 84 plus silver edition seems to be on a different language setting because i dont understand anything it says. what do i do to change it back to english?
The easiest way to fix this is through the Apps menu. Hit the apps key, then scroll down until you see any language(espanol, Deutsch, etc.). It should give you the option of switching to either that language or restoring to English. I just tried this on a calculator that was set to German. I hit Apps and scrolled down until I recognized the option for Spanish, and it still worked. It let me switch back to English.
Hope this works for you.

TI 84 won't turn on. New batteries installed. TI Connect recognizes device and I installed new OS. Brightness is not the issue. Any suggestions? This is one of student's calculators.
Thank you.
Sorry, answer was posted as a clarification request.
Hello,
Here it is from the horse's mouth (TI Knowledge base)
For the TI-83 Plus Family, TI-84 Plus Family:
Caution: The resets described in these troubleshooting steps will cause a lossof applications, programs and data. If at all possible please create a backup using TI Connect™ first.
Reinstalling the OS fot the TI84Plus
How do I correct the Error Waiting...Please Install Calculator SoftwareNow message on my TI-83 Plus family or TI-84 Plus family calculator?
If an operating system (OS) update fails or is interrupted, the calculator will be in an inoperable state with the message Waiting...Please install calculator software now.The most common cause of a transfer being interrupted is updating theoperating system on a calculator with low batteries. Users will need touse the TI Connectivity cable and the TI Connect software to send theoperating system to the calculator. Make sure to have the latestversion of TI Connect installed on the computer.
In order to install the software please follow these steps:
1. Connect the TI Connectivity cable between the computer and the calculator.
2. Click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OSDownloader
3. Follow the on-screen directions to reinstall the calculator's OS.
Ifthe message "Error! Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit backon." appears on the graphing calculator, quickly, remove one batteryfrom the calculator and reinstall it while the transfer is taking place.
Hope it helps.

Where is the comma key on the ti 84 plus silver edition?
Here is a picture of the keyboard. The comma is in the column of keys below the MODE button. In this column, the comma is between the sine function SIN and the key for the number 7. To its left is the square (x^2) key and to its right is the left parenthesis (.
