Err invalid dim
You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.
If you're trying to do something else, what?

Why does the y= button not show a list of y=
The issue is the mode that your calculator is in. I do not have my calculator at home with me right now to give you the keystrokes, but it is a mode setting. It is set to Polar coordinates and needs to be changed to linear.

I push the X,T,o,n button and all I get is the n, but I need the X....help!!!
The function of that key depends on the plot mode. If you're in SEQ mode you get n. To get X, you need to be in the FUNC mode.
Press MODE, down-arrow to the "FUNC PAR POL SEQ" line, left-arrow to highlight "FUNC", press ENTER, then 2ND [QUIT].
Alternatively, you can get the X in any plot mode by pressing ALPHA [X]. The X is on the STO key just to the left of the 1 key.

Change the language on ti-84 plus silver edition
Press the APPS key. In the list of apps you should see one or more language names (Deutsch, Espanol, Francais, etc). If you want one of them, pick it. Else pick any one of them by pressing the number or letter in front of the name. In either case, you'll see a screen offering a choice between English and that language. Make your selection.

My ti84 will not turn on
TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

My calculator has frozen up. You cannot clear it or input anything
The first diagnostics you should perform are:
- Make sure batteries are good and inserted correctly, respecting the polarity diagram: Yes, I myself made this mistake and it must be ruled out before doing anything else.
- After a change of batteries, the screen contrast can change: It may become too dark or too light. If it is too dark, you would not think about a malfunction because you see something on the scree. BUT it the screen is too light, it is easy to conclude that there is a malfunction because you do not see what the calculator is doing after you press a key.
- So, the second measure is to adjust the contrast. Press [2nd] key and Release it. Then Press and HOLD the UpArrow until screen is dark enough.
- A third easy measure is to use the TIConnect software (available on education.ti.com) to retrieve the device Info, and if calculator is recognized to reinstall or update the OS. You need a TI USB SilverLink cable.
Here are some more procedures to perform in the order they are presented. Please read the post till the end.
A
- Remove one of the AAA batteries.
- Press and hold the [CLEAR] key.
- While holding [CLEAR], reinsert the AAA battery and then
- turn the calculator on.
- the calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared".
- Release the [CLEAR] key and then press it one more time to remove the message "RAM Cleared".
B.
- Remove batteries including the backup battery for 5minutes.
- After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and
- turn the calculator on.
- Adjust the contrast if necessary. (see above)

Ti 84 plus calculator wont turn on
It is possible that the screen is dimmed too much. You should increase the contrast.
Press [2nd] key and release pressure. Press the UpArrow and keep pressure. At the top right corner you should see some numbers 0,1,2... that increase as you hold pressure on the UpArrow. Meanwhile the screen should be darkening. Stop when contrast is to your liking.
As to be recognized by the computer, you should install TIConnect. It will install the drivers. Then open TIconnect, plug your calculator and turn it on.
