this is caused by drying up of print heads, u may use deep cleaning in maintenance menu and/or replace the ink catridges

Might problem with the waste ink counter. Should you clean or replace before resetting but usually you can get away with it by resetting once.
1. Turn your printer OFF 2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER 3. Release RESUME 4. Press RESUME twice, then release POWER 5. Let green light blink until printhead has finished moving 6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER]

Error 5100 mean carriage error. Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor

Try going to the Canon website and download your software. ( http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010647.asp )

Uninstall any software that you may already have install for the Canon by going to ' add & remove programs ', uninstall your canon printer by going to ' printers & faxes, disconnect your Canon printer from your computer.

Reboot your computer.

Install the Canon printer software that you downloaded.

Hook up your Canon printer to your computer.

The software should install automatically. If not, re-install the software you downloaded.

itz problem/error of print pooler..
often happens due to data resent viz. reprint/overload/document mismatch/page error and so on..
itz very common..don't panic..!!..

snatch out all the paper(s) in the tray (but not which is printing)..set all the document in the print pool to delete..just turn off the printer..restart the system..

I don't have the parts list but what you want is: Pickup roller QM3-4668-000 and Pickup roller holder assy QC2-9055-000. The roller was changed and these two parts go together. I suppose you could take the rubber tyre off the new one and fit it to your old one if the diameters are the same.

You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.
