Hp c5180 override expired ink cartridge
To override expired ink cartridges, use the HP Solution Center application.
https://support.hp.com/us-en
Because HP Solution Center uses Adobe Flash, you will need to change the date of your computer to before January 12, 2021 (since Adobe Flash is no longer supported).
Using Windows 10, go to Settings >> Date & time then turn Off "Set time automatically" and click on "Change" to Set the date manually and select 2020 and click on "Change". This will need to be repeated each time the printer reboots.
In HP Solution Center, choose "Status" to view the "Cartridge(s) Expired warning and click on "OK" to Dismiss this message.
Ink system failure BEWARE SPAM NUMBER 1-800-532-4187
Just got off the phone to HP and the issue is resolved *phew*. This was what I was told to do for my C5180. First they told me to do a power drain. This is done by pulling out the power cable and then holding the on/off button for a minute, then putting the power cable back in (this didn't work).
Then we did a master reset. Unplug the printer, then pressing the help and ok buttons simultaneously plug it back in. This sorted it. :)
Have to say it looked like this whole process used up shed loads of ink, so by the time I had finished I needed to replace 3 cartridges!
HP were pretty good and were very willing to send out a new printer if the reset didn't work (as the printer is still in warrenty). Hope you get yours sorted too. Rebecca
HP Photosmart C5180 will not read new ink cartridge
Excuse me--but I would like hp to have a look at this series and come out with a statement.
I did call someone in computer repair i think he said they cannot fix it (I don't remember that part)--but (this I do recall) that it probably needed a sensor to be replaced.
I have another bone to pick with hp--revealing: I did use the quick set up format and did not watch any dvd s on it if they gave them--
one thing I've guessed from all of this--there are several colors that get used up awfully fast, and yellow is one of them--even when we have our default set for black. double check yourselves: I believe that their nice black is created with yellow and other colors as well as the black cartridge.
Since I cannot say whether this was revealed in any of the handouts or an instructional video, if there was one--I don't know that they didn't tell this outright.
To be truly user friendly--I don't think that sort of information should be so buried that a casual user wouldn't know that.
(Sure it makes what they more impressive if you don't know how they do it, but I'd like to think they want us to choose easily what colors we are using, especially when printing 'black' ink!)

I have a C5180 all in one printer that has been used on an Apple system. I'm trying to install on a Win 7 64 bit and the printer keeps cycling and shutting off
Before jumping into resolving the issue, assuming a technical failure, make sure the Auto-off feature on your printer is not enabled. This feature, in order to save power, turns off the printer automatically after a set period of inactivity.1 Check the Scheduled On and Off or the Auto Power Off feature on the control panel of the printer.2 Alternately, you can check the feature through the printer software installed on your Windows operating system. Open HP Printer Assistant, and give a double-click on the Maintain your printer option.3 Click the Advanced Settings tab in the Toolbox window. Change the settings if necessary and follow the prompts on the screen. When you are sure that the Auto-off feature is not the cause, try carrying out the steps given below.1. Restart your printer• Turn on the printer and give it some time to become silent.• Unplug the power cord from the printer. The printer should be turned on while unplugging the cord.• Remove the power cord from the electrical wall outlet.• Wait for at least a minute and reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and to the printer's rear.• Turn the printer on if it does not automatically turn on.• Wait until the printer is idle and check if the issue is resolved. • If the printer shutsdown again, continue with the steps.2. Update the printer firmware• Check if the printer is properly connected to your computer.• Go the manufacturer's website and click Printer.• Enter the printer model and click Submit.• Select the version of your operating system and click Change.• Select Firmware and click Download. If you do not see a firmware section, there is no update for your printer.• Save the downloaded file to a storage location on your computer and run the files.• Look for the printer's serial number in the HP Printer Update window. • If the printer's serial number is displayed, click the checkbox against it. Click Cancel if the status is 'not applicable'. If you have set up the printer on a wireless network and the serial number is not displayed, connect the printer and your computer using a USB cable, wait for about 20 seconds and Click Refresh. Once the printer's serial number is displayed, select the checkbox beside it and click Update.• Click OK once the update is complete.• Remove the USB driver installed on your Windowsif you have connected a USB cable to update your network printer.3. Make sure the printer is directly plugged into the power outlet• Turn the printeroff.• Unplug the printer power cord from the power strip or surge suppressor.• Check for any wear or damage in the power cord.• Wait for at least 30 seconds and plug the power cord directly into electrical wall outlet.• Power on the printer.4. HP c5180 printer paper jam error
Please try these general troubleshooting steps for paper jam issue: Turn off your printer to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely. Remove the rear access door and check the pressure rollers. Verify that they are clean and clean the rollers with a soft towel if needed. Check if there is any jammed paper in this section and remove the jammed paper from the rear access door opening. Make sure that there are no torn pieces of paper in the fuser area and duplexer slot. Check if the carriage moves freely. Use both your hands to remove the paper that is stuck in the roller in order to avoid tearing of the sheet. Discard any paper that is damaged, and then reload the paper into the paper tray. Unlock the print cartridge access door. Check if there is any packaging material or paper debris stuck on the small metal pressure rollers that ride on the main feed roller. Do not mix different types of paper. Load only one type of paper for a print job. Make sure that the paper meets the paper-handling specifications. Slide the paper-length adjuster against the end of the paper stack and do not overfill the input tray. Connect the power cord and turn on your printer. Try to print a sample and if the error persists, then try to reset the printer. Try to update the driver. If nothing works, then service the printer.
