Why is it not cooling?

Your wine cooler problem could be caused by any number of things ranging from a bad thermistor (temp. sensor), loss of refrigerant in the compressor (leak), a failed thermocouple, bad circuit board, etc.. I would recommend having a reputable appliance repair shop look at it. Repair parts are available through Sears Parts Direct. If the repair shop estimate is over $300 - $400, you're probably better off just replacing it with a new one; unless you're particularly enamoured of this particular model for some reason. Good luck.

Why does wine freeze?

Check for corrosion on the temp probe. The digital displays use thermistors to determine the temp so if the probe has dust on it it will change the resistance reading and tell the cooler that it is warmer than it is. All you can do is clean the probe, and if that doesn't solve the problem then the control or probe are faulty as they are usually one piece you will have to change it out. If you are mechanically inclined you can change out the temp control with an a19 abc24c remote bulb temp control from Johnson controls and that will last of the rest of your life.

Danby wine fridge making noise

If I checked out the right video it sounds like a fan motor. After a fan motor heats up and with age the fan will leak a little oil, the oil will become to thin and not cote the bearings well enough. It sounds like the fan trying to start back up after stoping. I would track down the fan motor and replace it.

The fans in my cooler stopped working. how can I fix, or replace them ? I have an DCW283BLS Model

There are 3 fans in this unit. One high up in the back panel for defrost (which should seldom run), and two inside the box with the LED's that divide the compartment into upper and lower areas. All are interchangeable. Replacement parts are available through Sears Parts Direct. If you intend to do the repairs yourself, make sure the cooler is unplugged when working on it. To gain access to the two fans in the divider box, remove the wine racks to give you more room, and just remove the four screws holding the top of the divider box on and lift it off. One of the fans is directly behind the PC board and the other is inside the 8x10 foam box to the rear of it. Be careful with this foam box, it is delicate. To gain access to the fan inside, use a thin bladed knife or razor blade to delicately separate the top from the sides. Before replacing fans, try tracing the leads from the fans to the PC board and swapping the plugs for the fans on the PC board and plugging the cooler back in to see if any of the fans are working. Make sure you restore the plugs to their original positions. If all three fans are not working, the problem may be the PC board or the thermocouples.

FAN MOTOR MAKING NOISE SLOWING UP BEEN RUNING ABAUT 6 YEARS FIRST PROBLEM EVER

The motors are filling up with dust and dirt that's why it getting noisy and slowing down. You can spray chemicals to the motor shaft like WD-40 to loosen the dirt that has accumulated and make the motor run smoothly again. Further, you can put a bit of oil to the motor shaft to make it run smoother for a longer time. To do this, you'll have to disassemble the motor to expose the motor shaft (a piece of metal that connects the propeller to the motor coil).

Compressor getting hot

I have the same cooler with the same problem and I've been researching this for several months now to no avail. It worked trouble free for over seven years before having problems. My local "authorized" Danby repair dealer advised me to: "Chuck it out, the parts are too hard to come by and it's impossible to get any parts or response from Danby". I attempted to contact Danby on my own and their 800 help line is non-responsive/non-existent. Be advised that Danby appears to have become just a middle-man importer now; the units are manufactured in China. Since I've had a problem finding a wine cooler that looks as good as this one that fits in the slot I have for it in my kitchen I decided to try repairing it myself. I've replaced the circuit board/display and the thermistors with parts obtained through Sears, and the compressor still gets hot and the inside upper and lower temp. will not cool below 61- 64 degrees (+/- 2 deg.), respectively. All the fans are working properly, so I know it's not a fan, thermostat (circuit board) or thermistor problem. I think now it's either the compressor or else a thermoelectric element. I doubt if it is a refrigerant leak because that is least likely in a closed system like this. My only recourse now is to take it in to the local repair shop and have them take a look at those two items or keep looking for a replacement. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Noisy fan problem solved..... at least for now.

Not familiar with Danby or wine coolers, but I have messed with enough appliances including fridges. The same exact fan and motor are often used by different manufacturers and are "off the shelf" items you can get at most appliance parts suppliers. See if you can get any part numbers or info off the fan motor or from Danby's web site. Then see if a local supplier has one. If the fan has spade connectors, you may be able to swap it out without having to cut/splice wires.
