Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

Sounds like we need to try to reset the system!

Huuum At your service!
Lets try this,
With an error code.
This can reset the system if it is electronic!
Unplug the appliance and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
If you can't reach the plug, use the breaker to cut the power for 5 minutes.

It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

Let me know how it works! Waiting for your reply!
Please remember to leave a rating when you are done!
Thank You huuum

How long does it take to reset? What is the temp are you trying to set it to? How old is the unit? Has it always done this or just started?

Danby Wine Cooler Chatter

The compressor has rubber grommets that isolate/insolate it from metal on metal. What is happening is that one of these has worn through and now when the compressor kick in or out it shake which is normal but gives you that metal on metal clanking which is not normal. Look at the back and see where the compressor is held inplace by pins you will see rubber donuts/grommets. One or more are wore out. You can probably find some on a unit at a salvage yard on a small fridge and you may be able to buy some an appliance supply warehouse....

Noisy fan problem solved..... at least for now.

Not familiar with Danby or wine coolers, but I have messed with enough appliances including fridges. The same exact fan and motor are often used by different manufacturers and are "off the shelf" items you can get at most appliance parts suppliers. See if you can get any part numbers or info off the fan motor or from Danby's web site. Then see if a local supplier has one. If the fan has spade connectors, you may be able to swap it out without having to cut/splice wires.

Need manual for dwc283bls

First of all, here is a link to a site where you can download the USER"S MANUAL for free:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Danby-DWC283-Refrigerators-manual/id/886ag725/t/2/

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above.
This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated.

When you get to the RETREVO page, click on the blue DOWNLOAD THE DOCUMENT button on the left hand side.

Once you click on that and get to the next page, don't bother typing your email address in the empty box, it's not necessary. Only the CAPTCHA underneath it is.

Just TYPE IN THE NUMBERS SHOWN BELOW into the second empty box.

Then click the red DOWNLOAD NOW button.

When the computer asks if you want to open or save the file, CHOOSE SAVE.

Then select a place on your computer to save the file (like the desktop), and then click SAVE.

Once the download is complete, which should only take a few seconds, then select OPEN.

Then you will see the contents of the USER'S MANUAL which is now saved on your computer for viewing anytime.

If it does not open or there is an error, then you may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read the PDF document.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the link, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

If this was at all helpful please click on the 4 Thumbs Up helpfulness rating icon you see on this page.

Thank you very much and good luck.

Joe.

Wine cooler frost buildup

Some dual temperature wine coolers build up frost in the rear and top of the main compartment. Check the defrost timer, located either inside the main compartment near the light, or outside on the back of the wine cooler near the compressor. Look in the owner's manual for the correct settings for the defrost timer and adjust yours as needed. Make sure that you have the wine cooler in a spot where the outside temperature remains at or near room temperature to reduce frost buildup.
