Maytag Neptune Door Boot Change
Remove 2 screws holding door hinge to cabinet and remove door. Then
remove 2 screws opposite these. Grab front panel with thumbs at area of
screws you removed and pull outward with thumbs. Panel will pivot
forward. Remove panel from lower clips. At top of exposed area remove
2 5/16 screws. Remove brackets under them.
Open dispenser and remove 4 screws. Careful not to drop in dispenser. Remove dispenser frame assembly.
You can now raise top of washer to a 90 degree position.
Now back to front exposed area. Grab boot where it contacts front and
peel out of groove. Also remove two screws holding light assembly and
remove cover. Remove all 5/16 screws holding front assembly and the
ones on top area where it is on a bevel. Remove front assembly by
folding up and onto top.
Now we are at the boot. Remove spring
and wire assembly holding boot to drum. Make note on boot position and
spring position. Remove boot. Install new boot onto drum. wrap wire
around drum with ends at top. Now the fun! Hook spring to on end of
wire and using vise-grips, pull to other end to hook into wire. It
can be done, honest.
Now just reverse to reassemble. should be instructions with boot. Good luck!
My Neptune was working fine and I washed my comforter and now it won't drain and I can not get it to run or open.
Remove the 4 screws that hold down the dispenser cover then remove the dispenser itself. You will find a yellow or green plastic string that should be close to the front,, then pull on it and open the door at the same time. If your comforter had some pieces fell off it may have got stuck in the drain pump. not letting it drain. Was the timer stuck on 7 or 9 minutes? If so there is a displacement switch inside the front cover that may have broken. Sometimes that will brake the switch when washing a heavy load. We take our comforters to the laundry mat, even we have a Neptune.
Maytag Neptune front loader door latch won't release
rewpa, 98% chance the door latch has stuck in the locked position. Yes, follow Maytags suggestion to access the "rip cord" for the door latch... (this is the mechanical override for it) to get the door open. After it's open, run another load of wash and see if it happens again. If it does, it is the door latch assy. that's the problem.
BTW, the door lock light is activated by a switch in the door latch assy. There's a "motor" in the assy... it's made of WAX! Yes, a "wax motor". Before the computer goes into spin, it sends 120V to this motor. The electricity heats the wax and it expands. As it expands, it pushes a plunger forward. This plunger trips both the door lock AND the switch. This sends the signal to the door light AND the computer saying "I'm locked! Go ahead and Spin!" When the cycle is complete, the computer drops the voltage to the wax motor. The wax cools off and contracts. This retracts the plunger... opening the door and shutting off the light. So... if this light stays on, the plunger is still extended and can be overridden using the rip cord.
If this happens again, let me know and I'll step you through disassembly and replacement of the wax motor.
How to change the wash time on the washer. It runs for 99 minutes now?
The drain system may have a coin or similar item obstructing the flow. The pump has three impellers and one could be missing. Check the boot. Squeeze it and dump any objects in it out. Also the screens in the supply hoses may be partly plugged. The drain hose may have something in it. Make sure nothing is in it. If these things are okay, live with it.
