I believe that model has a logic board in it and that is what it sounds like to me. That is just off top of my head, but I believe if you will notice the standby light it will be blinking so many blinks and stop and then blink again. If so this is a code that you can look up on the Samsung web site and plug in your model and it should tell you what just say ~ 4 blinks means. I worked on so many and it has been a while but I believe the last one I had was a Samsung and I put a logic board in it. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know.

Possible:Lamp about to fail (too dim and set will shut down).Lamp Ballast failing (it drives the lamp)Color wheel issue (usually there will be a high pitched or fan like sound heard but not always)---if wheel turns too slow set will detect that and turn lamp and set off.

time to say good bye to that set--cost of a display panel will exceed the the price of a new set not even counting major labor. A typical set for a DLP averages over 400 from the dealer.

If set has high pitched or grinding sound it is bad color wheel.

Very common problem in these sets and if you Google the model number with "color wheel" after it you will see where to get it.

You Tube and other sites have video and written instructions for its replacement---THIS IS A DO IT YOUR SELF JOB and takes less than 1 hour. There are some pitfalls to avoid that are not in the video instructions and I can explain them to you.


Wheel turns at 14,000 RPM and the bearings in the tiny motor lock up and the wheel either shatters or turns too slow--set detects too slow and shuts lamp off.

If replaced lamp was Samsung original and came in its housing then you can think about temp sensor error too
and if new lamp was bulb that was fixed in old lamp housing then its bulb problem as these are low cost bulb and does not last longer.

You have problem with Color Wheel. It's a part of optical engine. It's already shattered into pieces and have to be replaced.

This is a color wheel problem.
I would recommend to use professional help because you can make more damage to the optical engine. Not to mention index delay have to be re-adjusted in special service menu after repair is complete.

As you have already replace the lamp and the color wheel and there is no issue with the picture, I mean the picture is there so it means that both these parts are working fine. The issue seems to be with the DMD Board and/or the light engine going bad, the cost to repair the light engine will be somewhere around $700-$1000 as the part itself is around $900. Prior to replacing it please check this link which tells you that this is a common issue with Samsung HLR 2005/2006 model. I mean if yours if the one then the first thing will be to contact Samsung, if yours does not fall is this category then its your decision on what needs to be done. The Color Wheel needs to be replaced. Also have the tech check out the DMD board for failure.
