The system is resuming from s4 state

System Power State S4. System power state S4, the hibernate state, is the lowest-powered sleeping state and has the longest wake-up latency. To reduce power consumption to a minimum, the hardware powers off all devices. Have you done all the hardware (Toshiba) and software updates ( Windows) to your system? Did you change anything in the BIOS? Please answer so I can assist.

Play dvd nothing - play s/d card (video) sound but no picture.

You need to update the dvd softwear. Check the default settings for playback of media,if it is set to windows media it won't work if you hav'nt installed the correct updates. Choose the Toshiba dvd player as the default player and it should work. If you prefer windows media then you can get the updated codecs from ' free-codecs.com ' Easier still, try uninstalling your windows media player and installing windows media 11, this will usually resolve the problem.

Dvd drive on laptop

You need a piece of software to play DVD movies. Is this an actual DVD movie, or is it an MP4 or WMV/WMA file?

Usually you need something like WinDVD to play a DVD movie. I don't think Media Player can play those.

Did you recently install another piece of software that might have affected your ability to play DVDs?

My brand new laptop is only showing partial clips

Hi,
The problem may be with,
1. Graphics driver installed in your laptop
2. The Video file which you are trying to play may got corrupted.
3. The player you are using to play the vedio may not have proper codec to play the file
solutions:
1. Reinstall the graphics driver for your laptop
2. Try playing some other vedio files
3. Install VLC player and try playing using this player as it supports most of the vedio formats and even plays corrupted vedio files.
I hope this is helpful to you.

SOUND DRIVER

Physically examine the make and model of the sound card as sometimes these are replaced with generic ones.
Alternatively, run a driver detector to get an accurate model of the sound card.
