Coby DVD-937 5.1 Channel DVD Player/Receiver Home Theater Speaker System System Questions & Answers
Question: how do you connect to a cable box?
That Coby DVD-937 only has Digital Audio outputs rather than inputs, which is very strange and complicates our problem immensely. You will get 5-channels with DVD or radio play, but getting 5 channels for TV is not possible without additional equipment.
The manual for the Coby mentions a "Digital Decoder Amplifier," which would work. You would connect a digital audio cable from the area marked "Coaxial" on the back of the Coby to a digital audio IN on the back of an external amplifier. You would connect the speakers to this amplifier, instead of directly to the back of the Coby. Then you would need a cable or satellite box with digital audio outs (fairly common nowadays) to another digital audio IN on the back of the amplifier. The cable or sat box you may have already, but you may need to purchase such a "Digital Decoder Amplifier" or other digital amplifier with appropriate speaker wires and 2 digital audio input slots (not to mention two digital audio cables). Fairly complex. Possibly expensive.

I CAN NOT GET ALL 5 SPEAKERS TO WORK
I know this is not the answer that you want to hear, but: That television is not capable of delivering audio output to all 5 speakers - it is a stereo-only TV, which only delivers 2 channels.

Coby DVD -937 home theater system. Pushed power
Could be that the power button is worn out...it is a common problem with computers as well. They are not wear tested for durability. Some of the reviews i had read concerning the model 937 are not the best, i have just bought a used one myself, and it was only used once..so i was told, however, not all channels working for speakers. The choice is, do you send it in for repair? or just buy a different brand altogether and ship that one back? you need to get estimate from electronic repair as to cost. that is the primary problem,. or could be board is shorted out in unit. in that case, get refund, or if extended warrenty have replaced.
Best of luck....
I still have sound but get no picture on my DVD
Chances are, that as in the issue with no sound/picture post, the Tv is the issue...dont fret, just refer to owners manual of tv, and verify which component/hdmi/s-video hookup it is and make sure you choose appropriate one on TV input setup. for more information refer to post of no sound/picture.
I do not get a piture or sound
Check to make sure that your TV is tuned to proper channel (I.E., Aux 1, S-video, component 1, so on.) best to try with dvd in the player and just select the source input on your tv one at a time until you get the right one. If you are connected with HDMI cable, it should be one of those, if it is the standard yellow, white, red cable then it would probably be one of the "component" selections on tv input section....you may have to refer to your TV model and user guide to see which one is the correct one in correspondance to what you have hooked up....good luck.
Do not know how to get regular T.V. hooked up to this system
try using the red White cables from back of tv to back of dvd player/receiver. Do the same with DTV/dvr or cable box. not sure if cable box has red and white cable outlets, however the DTV-DVR does, The quick patch is from TV to back of dvd (input audio)side,....that should work
When i turn computer on it says unsupported mode:
H: means horizontal at 644 H and V 602 is vertical measurements seems there may be something wroung with the video card resolutions or the display itself. This would need to be look at locally to determine what is causing this error. Seems like video to me.
