Hitachi 50VS810 blue streak

A blue (or other color) band or area of the screen usually means a burnt optical light engine but a photo would tell me more.

The blue light comes on for a while the cycles thru the blue, red, red, and so on..

Look for a recessed button on the front of the set "magic focus" which can cause the set to keep trying to do that function.

First try reseating both ends of the LVDS cable.coolken_16.jpg

By "reseating" that basically means unplugging, and re-plugging them in their slots right?

fixed a few monitors similar to that by replacing a few bad caps. Look for swollen caps. Sometimes the tops of them will have a bulge or a split. It might be better to just replace them all.

Look on the Power supply board for Bad Capacitors they will be vented or puffed up on Top.
This board will be on the Far Left hand side, pull it out and look for bad Caps.

You need to know how to Solder with an solder Iron, unsolder bad caps and replace with new .

Make sure you put them back in the exact same way the came out, they will be marked postive side and Negative - Side. If they are 1,000uf 16v make sure the cap is 1,000uf. If you want to just replace the board, please contact an expert for help.

It can be a like dead pixels too. How many dots do you see? Some companies have a policies where they state a certain number of dead pixels is "normal" and a limitation/product of the technology. So, I'd say the store is the best place to go to in terms of getting any sort of return/service. Again, it differs company-to-company, and I can't say what Hitachi's policy is.

Bottom line is that it's probably dead pixels. So, it's not something you should have to deal with. Especially if it's multiple.

Also you might be a panel or board defect that will progressively get worse. You would have to take it to a tv show when it gets worse, have them diagnose the problem, then either replace the board ($400 bucks most likely) or the panel which is equally as expensive.

Hope it helped..

Please keep me posted.

I have a Hitachi 55vs69

The number of hours, coupled with the TV viewing conditions, is a more accurate way of interpreting the proper bulb life expectations.

For example; a TV like yours that is set to watch the winter Olympics for two hours per day will not last as long as one that is set to watch something like Ghost Hunters for two hours per day. The reason is the output demand on the bulb...brighter pictures will burn it out faster.

The best way to get the most life out of any bulb, or any TV as a whole, is to properly calibrate your TV. Getting the correct picture levels does more for the TV than simply improve the picture quality.

I recommend a calibration tool you can find on DVD called Avia. Or you could simply use some of the calibration images provided with some THX certified movies. These are by far not the best available choices, but are the simplest and much better than the ***** eye. The discs are intended for calibrating the output of video from dvd playback, but you still could use the same calibration settings for all of your outputs if you wish.

Have lost all sound on my Hitachi 55VS69A

Hello,

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. To get the sound repair, it can be from $150 and up, so if you can put up with using the good set of Powered PC speakers which actually give better sound than the tiny speakers inside the TV, I would keep using it that way, you may want to find out if the on screen sound setup will allow you to set the audio line out to be VARIABLE which means the sound output feeding the PC speakers can be varied using the TV remote control, then all you have to do is to set the PC volume to about half way up and set the TV volume to what ever you want.

I hope this will help in solving the problem....
