LG 42PX4DV 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television Questions & Answers
Plasma 42inch TV
As you may have guessed by now, the breakdown is likely being caused by a bad connection or ground. May need resoldering unless it is a semiconductor breaking down. If you can find a service center that services LG (low grade) products, I would take it there for repair. You have probably noticed a lot of heat escaping from the top of the unit after it has been on awhile. That is a big problem with plasma TV's as heat is the biggest destroyer of electronic parts that I know of (well after lightening storms). A temporary solution would be to install some fans blowing air up from the bottom back of the unit to allow it to play longer before getting too hot. Or watch less TV
LG 42PX4DV - HDMI Audio / PC Audio IN problem
I found the fix. Had the same problem.I right clicked on the sound speaker icon in the bottom right of Windows 7.Chose Playback Devices.Once this window opens, then make sure you are on the Playback tab.Scroll down until you see the HDMI Device. (Mine was hidden at the bottom of the list.)Then choose "set as default".The sound will begin playing on the TV with only the HDMI connected......no need for an extra audio cable.
Screen glitters when tv gets
Only option is to install an internal fan to cool the plasma. This is caused by the extreme heat made by the plasma tvs. It is overheating.
Thank you and best of luck!

Your TV is telling you that the network cable company or free air is not broadcasting their programs in HD. Just because they have didgital programming doesn't mean that it is HD programming.
No audio out on hdmi with desktop

Remote control does not work altho tested ok
There are two parts in the TV that could be causing this issue. It is either a defective IR board in the TV or defective main board. The IR sensor on the IR board picks up the signal from the TV and sends it to the main board that decodes it.
It is also possible there is a loose connection form the IR board and main board. The only way to check which of the above mention failures is causing the remote control not to work is to check the voltages along the line with a digital multimeter to match the ones in the service manual.
