Are you sure there are no programs saved, you must delete a recorded program to make sure it is unsaved. Also, if it is a controller issue, you may have to leave it unplugged for several days to reset. But this is not a guaranteed fix.

The cable box signal is received from a round cable called coaxial cable. The guide is sent to the cable box through the coax cable. The HDMI cables sends the picture to the TV.
The Tv does not download TV guide listings , just the box does. That would be a cable company/box issue not a TV issue.
Some TVs have a built in TV guide for when you recieve signals from an antenna (not cable).
If thats what you are referring to don't bother .

Usually when customer reports they heara loud crack and now unit won't power up what we bad is commonly the Y SUSTAIN and LOWER Y DRIVER CBA. hOPEFULLY YOUR UNIT IS UNDER FACTIRY WARRANTY. anyway it goes this is a shop job.

Do a re-tune to this set; after a reset. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. Look for button labeled ratio, push as many times as it takes to get right size,usually 16:9. If you are using a cable box/satellite box the pix size could also be adjusted within its menu. but first be sure the TV is properly set to 16:9
