If your camcorder didn't come with a remote, then its probably not remote control compatable. But if it says in the manual that it is, then you need to get the code for your camera and enter it into your remote under the aux button.

Yes. It probably shorts in the wiring in the hinged area.

well if the camera is miniDV, than u will have to capture the video with the panasonic software or any other capture software (u;ll need a firewire card (1394 card)).

if the recordings are on the memory (if any) than a simple usb transfer should do the job

sounds like your reverter is split youll have to take it in or send it to the manufacturer when did you purchase it?

It seems you have a UK model hence the difficulty in getting manual.

Whats the problem?

you need to take the covers off to reveal the chassis there is a part in the corner that is taller then the rest of the parts it has two solder posts on it, its called the capstan motor, you need to apply power to the posts and the tape will come out but be careful when taking the tape out because the ribbon wont go back into the tape.

What cables do you mean?
I presume s/video or AV?
S/video would be black and multiple pins or AV yellow connector.
Also what sort of viseo capture device do you have?
I presume you do have a video capture device?
