Plotter wont recognize edge of clear films when loaded from a roll or sheet. recognized plain paper fine

I would check the sensor on the carriage that detects paper. It might be dirty enough that printer cannot detect the subtle edge of the clear film. It is the blue light that turns on on the bottom of the carriage when you load paper.

Hello. 0B000D error during start-up indicates a 24VDC failure. This is generally caused by a failed DC power supply. There are 2 types of power supplies - 1 for the 1050C series and 1 for the 1050C Plus series. They can both be found at: HP Designjet 1050C 1055CM repair parts

Streaking on photo plots on a 1050c

Streaks can come from several sources. Since you said they appear near the end of a plot, the print heads may be running out of ink before the end of the job. This would happen if you had air in the ink tube system and consequently in the heads. When the printer is idle for a while, ink will migrate to the bottom of the print head so when you print again it is ok for the first part of the plot and then gets to the air bubble. Open the back door of the plotter and look for air bubbles in the ink supply lines. If air is present, it needs to come out. There is a purging tool at Designjet Ink Tube Priming Tool . The print heads may need to be replaced, but not before the tube system is clean.

Hi, I believe this error occurs when there is no 24 volt supply to the PCB. Go back and check you have plugged all the connectors back in correctly. Thanks

Processes but won't print

Sometimes a plotter will show that is receiving data from the computer but will not print. I assume this is what you are describing. This can be caused by a couple of things. The first suspect is a corrupt file. Try a smaller file to see if it will print. If it does, the problematic files are probably from Photoshop or a CAD program. If a file has more than one level when it is sent to the plotter, the plotter has a hard time digesting it. Try "flattening" the file (makes a single level) and then send it to the plotter. Another possibility is that the printer driver is no longer matched to the computer operating system or is simply corrupt. Go to HP.com and get the latest driver for the plotter. Windows XP Pro 64 drivers work well with W7 and 8. Lastly, the Jetdirect card could be faulty. Reseat or replace the card.

Designjet 1050c system error 0A0050

0A0050 indicates a leak in the tube system has been detected. Can be caused by condensation, but more likely the tubes are leaking and need to be replaced.

Designjet 1050 processes but won't print

Does it run out of memory? Could you test printing a very small file? Are you sending an Adobe file to a non post script printer? How large is the file? How do you know it processes?

Update firmware

firmware is not likely to cure this fault , this is usually the first and only sign of the power supply failing ( can you hear a gentle buzzing noise near the back cover?) does the display take a little time for the characters to light up- it may even throw up a hdd error on initialize . after a quick check of the display panel my first stop would be change the power supply.
