Cassette (Tray 2) paper pickup and feed rollers

To remove the paper pickup and feed rollers

1 Remove the cassette.

2 Locate the two rollers on the bottom of the paper pickup unit (above the cassette). The pickup

roller is the smaller roller, and the feed roller is the larger roller.

3 Pinch the tab on the end of the cassette pickup roller (callout 1), and pull the roller out.

4 Pinch the tab on the end of the cassette feed roller (callout 2), and pull the roller out.

Note Always replace the cassette pickup roller and the cassette feed rollers at the same time. Also replace the separation roller (located in the paper cassette) when replacing these rollers

First, make sure your Router is configured for DHCP, and the Printer is plugged into the Router using a Network Cable. Also, make sure the Activity light on your Router is On for the Port that your plugged the Printer into.

Configuring TCP/IP parameters
You can use the printer control panel to configure the following TCP/IP parameters:

• usage of the BOOTP file for configuration parameters (the default is to use the BOOTP file)
• IP address (4 bytes)
• subnet mask (4 bytes)
• default gateway (4 bytes)
• TCP/IP connection timeout (in seconds)

Note: Do not disable BOOTP if you will be using RARP or DHCP to configure TCP/IP parameters.

To automatically configure TCP/IP parameters from the printer control panel:
1. Press the Check Mark button to enter the MENUS.
2. Press the Down Arrow to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE.
3. Press the Check Mark button to select CONFIGURE DEVICE.
4. Press the Down Arrow to highlight I/O.
5. Press the Check Mark button to select I/O.
6. Press the Down Arrow to highlight EIO X (where X = 1, 2, or 3).
7. Press the Check Mark button to select EIO X.
8. Press the Down Arrow to highlight AUTO.
9. Press the Check Mark button to select AUTO.
10. Press the PAUSE/RESUME button to return to the READY state.

The parallel cable on the HP 4600n is a smaller C style connection not the typical larger B style. If you ar looking for a parallel cable ask for an A-C cable. So far I have not seen a USB adapter for this size. I would suggest using the Ethernet cable if it is a 4600n.

First. Examine the toner cartridges by inspecting the surface of the drum of each color cartridge. Score marks? Replace toner cartridge(s).
Next. for vertical lines from top to bottom, you will want to inspect the fuser real quick to see if the Hot roller is scored or worn or discolored or any adhesives are adhered to roller. Should be perfectly smooth and uniform in color.
Next, do the consumables life page which is in a menu function.
Information --> Supplies Status Page.
This will tell you the life remaining of the image transfer kit (C9724A) as well as fuser unit. These indicators will help you decide if the consumables are the first cause of the print quality issues you are observing.

if you are using PCL version of the driver, download and setup the PS (PostScript) driver from HP.

There are conflicts with printing PDF/Powerpoint docs using PCL driver.

let us know if this helps. Another thing you can try if possible, convert the Powerpoint into a PDF file and then try printing, but select "Print as Image" in the Advanced section of the print options.

you will be havin a connecting chord...... connect it to the plug and play port or usb port...........it will ask for installation. install the drivers and use your printer

Would you consider sending me the original document and a "Print to File" of the document. I will also need to know where in the printout the error occurs.

I can run it through some of the tools I have and see if I can spot the failure.

you have 2 options:

1. it is either you install the MAC drivers of the printer to your Mac and the Windows drivers to your Dell and make it work both ways by unplugging or replugging the printer from one computer to another,

or

2. you can get a printserver and connect the printer to that device which will be connected to your network where the MAC and the Dell is connected. This way you can print on both machine without unplug and replugging of the printer.

This problem may be an indication of needing the paperpick-up assembly repalced. It is hard to tell without seeing it.
