Thanks for sending me the user manual; I

You need to print out a report from the printer on what its URL name is to be able to type it in your safari browser and look up and change the internet settings on page 23 of http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00256077 There will be a setup program in the downloaded software or a driver setup program . Once you change the ip address of the printer to match your mac ip range and subnet mask you may find your apple IMAC may detect your printer and set it up automatically You have to download the mac version of the driver on the MAC as Apple has a different file system to windows. http://www.hpdriver.net/goto/http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software9/COL21675/mp-56790-1/HP_Installer_DJ6800_DJ6600_v9.7.dmg note the dmg file extension not straight forward read the forum posting below on how to open a dmg file and copy and run the contents https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/64845/how-do-i-install-applications-from-a-dmg-file

Printer lost static IP address with new router and won't install on network.

Your printer is looking for your old router. Reset the printer:
  • Verify that the printer is powered on.
  • Press and hold down the Report Page button.
  • While holding down the Report Page button, press the Cancel button three times.
  • Release the Report Page button.
Now, re-connect your printer to you new router. Source : Re Can Get DeskJet 6840 To Work on Wireless Network Need HP Support...

Hp deskjet printer 6840 wont print .keeps on saying top cover is open when it is actually closed.

Pop off the right side cover - it is just held with clips. At the hinge, you will see that the cover switch arm that is supposed to move up and down as the cover opens & closes (in the slot in the geared hinge) is probably broken off. It is in the up position when the lid is closed, and down when the lid is open. I cut the shaft of a Q-tip to length and wedged it into the space to keep the cover switch up all of the time and still allow free movement of the lid. Geezer Geek

Trying to connect printer to

Once you plug in the printer it should try to install driver software. If it does not do this automatically then you can use the disc that came with your printer. Once this is installed try to print with Microsoft word or any other program and make sure the correct printer is selected. Hope this helps!
