Have you tried turning it off, leaving it for a bit and turning it on again?

You can download the complete software installer from HP here. This is the Windows XP version; if you're not using XP, start here and pick your operating system from the drop-down list. The manual and user's guides are here. You really don't need the CD since you can get all the stuff that came on it from the HP site.

Try reloading the software for your printer.

Following are some of the tips, which you must follow while you are using a printer with Windows 7 system.

Ensure that the cables are properly connected; you need to ensure that your printer is properly connected, and plugged in, and also the cable is accurately connected to the computer as well.
Check the power; make sure that the printer's power is switched on, ensure that all the computer necessary computer components are also turned on.
Make sure that the hardware is properly plugged in, and also turned on. Apply troubleshooting.
A troubleshooter is a tool, which is generated automatically and which can easily fix the problems that occur with your system.
Thus, if you are coming across different issues related to your printer, then you can consult the troubleshooter.
You require driver applications to run your hardware devices.
Make sure that the drivers are not outdated, corrupt, or incompatible, resulting in disrupting the communication between the printer and the computer.
Always make sure that you are making use of the most recent and latest device drivers, and also that are compatible with your system requirements and specifications, as this can be extremely useful in resolving printer issues.

1.Check if there is low ink level in cartridge

2. Check if there is any piece of paper stuck inside

3. Unplug the power cord while its ON , Press and hold OK and CANCEL at the same time, while holding them plug in the power cable and then release the buttons.

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.

Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage. Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now
If that does not work then follow the next step.

Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply. _

power it down totally. uplug the power cord. leave for approx 1 hour or so and then retry, by plugging in everything.

also i would recommend a surge protector, which will help with spikes and blackouts etc

It is a cartridge problem. Solution for my hp 3645 (I have the same story as bb18, but different printer) was to remove color cartridge! 
The printer is fast now, of course it does not print in color :) (I`m waiting for a new color cartridge) Good luck,

the scanner bulb assembly is unable to come to its starting position. this assembly rides on a metal spindle, rub some oil on it so that the slide becomes smoother. to reach it you will first have to remove the glass. turn the scanner upside down & prise it open with a flat screwdriver applying pressure at the rear end to separate the top & bottom half.

Hi,

I will suggest you try reset the printer, follow the instruction below to reset your printer, if the problem still persist, replace the cable that connects the printer to the power outlet. If that did not still fix the problem, you will need to reinstall the driver of the printer, you can get it at HP web site.

1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Press and hold # and 6 keys.
3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.

If that did not fix the problem, try this,

1. Unplug the power cable from printer while the printer is powered on.
2. Press and hold OK and HELP buttons while plugging in the power cord. Wait for the screen to go black or blank before releasing the keys.
3. Just turn on the printer and configure your printer new.

You could remove both cartridges.
Close cover and turn off printer.
Unplug printer for at least 10 minutes before plugging back into the outlet
Turn on printer and install cartridges.
If this does not correct the problem, the cartridge may be bad.

You need to check the hardware functionality of printer first. Make a copy from printer and check if it prints fine. If hardware is okay. You can try following steps on computer.

1- On computer keyboard press Windows(flag) button and R at the same time
2- This will open a small Run window
3- Type devmgmt.msc in Run window and click OK
4- This will open Device Manager window.
5- Right click on psc 2410(2400) entry under "universal serial bus controller" and 'imaging device' and click delete/uninstall/remove. Printer's entry should disappear from there.
6- Disconnect usb cable from printer and computer
7- Wait for 50 seconds.
8- Connect the usb cable to printer and computer.
9- This should install the drivers automatically.

Are you getting error messages? This sounds like it could be a mechanial issue that may require service; however you might give this a try.
