HP OfficeJet 7410 All-In-One InkJet Printer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Hp officejet 7410 all-in-one scanner don't work half the time.
Perform a hard reset on printer and also uninstall completely all software and then reinstall. Try scanner again.
If you have "upgraded" to another OS there is a possibility that the driver being used is not good for the new environment. If applicable, check that out.
If printer is out of warranty HP will do nada but refer you to a forum or suggest you get a new printer - an HP naturally!!!!!!!

Ink cartrige does not move manualy on bar seemsto be froze
n my experience with these printers the carriage will only stop in the correct position, when you lift the lid, if there is an empty
ink cartridge.
To force a change you need to go through the software on the PC.
Open the printer information, go to maintenance and select cartridge change and follow the on screen prompts.

Why does my hp 7410 all in one ask me to remove and check color cartridge?
Yeah, as I am a victim to this very same problem, the other guys are right. The metal spring that is part of the ink carriage becomes a hole punch for the ribbon cable right behind the unit. Now you have a useless printer that you think has faulty ink cartridges, but in fact it's a faulty printer. Because of this design flaw, HP should compensate each and everyone of us, no matter how long ago the purchase of the printer was. I bought mine in 2006 for over $600 and for such a little thing that will break at some point, causes such a huge problem. It's caused by you putting the ink cartridges into the unit. You don't have to be aggressive with the install for the failure to occur, normal installs will cause the same affect. My suggestion to you my friend is to put it up for auction on eBay and use that money for a new printer. Gots me a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus that was 1/3 the cost of the 7410, with pretty much the same features and more!

My 7410 All-in-One printer stopped in a blue screen with 00000020
0000020 is a BIOS error code for WiFi communication error. (Took me HOURS to find that in 2008!)
1. Power down the printer - disconnect the power supply 20 seconds. Restart it while pressing the ON along with OK both for 3-5 seconds. This will recover a failed BIOS. However, if the WiFi really is dead (and it IS the weakest link in the printer), you may get the error again.
2. Power off the printer (again). Disconnect the WiFi card (back panel, look for a 6-7 wire cable wrapped in plastic tape). If the printer restarts, you have your answer... but not the solution!
3. HP7400-series WiFi cards are rare as hens-teeth these days. Mine failed a 2d time; I use the cat5e connector and just leave the WiFi disconnected.
