VLC DVD player is jerky
What are your PC specs for RAM and CPU speed? VLC player is an amazing player. Are you saying this player is jerky on the same videos that another player was NOT jerky on? That seems very odd. I have yet to experience a jerky playback on VLC for movies (mostly HD).
Is your PC doing something else in the background while attempting to play the movies? Hit Control, Shift, Escape while playing a movie and look on the bottom at how much CPU % the PC uses before and during movie playback.

What is system password
Hi
I presume that you are referring to the computer system password that is required before you even get to the Windows start up screen.
In this case it is easier for you to download the manual by going here:
Product Support Dell US
and clicking on the "PDF" link beside the Service Manual. You might find it handy to save the manual to your computer for future reference.
There are two sets of jumpers on the motherboard relating to your problem, they are the Password jumper "PSWD" and the RTC reset jumper "RTCRST". They can both be located on the diagram of the motherboard on page 75. The RTCRST is near the battery, and the PSWD is near the Speaker and CPU fan connector.
The PSWD jumper should be set on pins 2 & 3 to disable password features. (See page 90)
The RTCRST jumper should be transferred from pins 2 & 3,and put on pins 1 & 2. After about 5-10 secs this should be replaced on pins 2 & 3. (see page 85)
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

If the eject button is not working, go to Start and then my computer (Win XP) or Computer (Win 7) you should then see the drive, right click on the drive and click the Eject option.
Should that fail you may need to eject it manualy, check the drive door and you should see a small hole, use a paper clip or similar and gently press it in to the hole. This should release the lock and let you open the door.
