They key is on your keyboard and you don't need to use the Fn key. As an alternative run osk.exe (On_Sreen Keyboard)

Check driver for it

1. right click on my computer
2. click on properties
3. click on hardware
4. click on device manager
5. click on mic & other pointing device
6. click on(+)
7. then right click mouse
8. click on update driver
9. select second option in window(advanced)
10. then click on( search removable.......)
11. then insert driver cd in cd rom
12. And click on Next option

If you have done this then do this

1. if it is not work then do above procss and select third option(Don't search.I will...............)
2. And click Next option
3. click Next option in next window.Thats it

yikes it seems as if the keyboard themselves are damaged and need of replacement though you maybe able to use a USB plugged keyboard (or PS/2 keyboard if supported) but it does seem those keyboards are ruined

Same keyboard, same problem for almost 2 years now, and just now figured out how to fix it!! Try a simple left ctrl-shift, your language tab up top will switch between US English/Canadian English/Canadian multilingual, or whatever you set it for. I occasionally want the alternate characters applied, so now I can switch back and forth easily. You may need to set the language tab to your preferred settings. Hope this helps!

Sounds like you have turned on the NUM LOCK on the laptop keyboard. If you look closely you will see the numbers on those keys (maybe in a different colour).

You need to turn off NUM LOCK again. On the laptop I'm looking at, this is done by pressing Fn and END together, but the key should be marked with NUM LOCK as well.

Could have died a noble death. Try plugging in a usb keyboard. If that works stay with it because laptop parts are expensive and the repairs are labor intensive.

If your operating system is working correctly and you said you just installed it, you need to replace the keyboard it's defective.

Buzzing usually means one of two things: you have a bad CD/DVD in the CD/DVD drive (which would not usually interfere with booting up so that's probably not it in this case) or you have a bad hard disk. Try putting your Windows installation CD into the CD drive and booting from that. If the computer boots successfully, you have a bad hard disk. In that case, you will probably have to get a new drive and take the old one to a pro to recover any important data.

Try using the other shift key. If that works, then you most likely have a dirty or defective keyboard.
Does the number 2 work? Does your shift key product uppercase letters (does it work with other keys?)
If you are having problems with a flaky keyboard, it's pretty inexpensive to replace it and reduce your stress.

The reason these beeps are happening is because there might be a key that is slightly depressed enough to where its registering keystrokes. Move your fingers all over the keyboard and see if you the beeps stop after you do that. If it still is going on then that means your keyboard is bad and will need to be replaced.

the best thing to do is set the delay on your kboard by your control panel-keyboad-thenn select an option.. hope this will help
