Turning my camera on

What batteries are you using? If they're rechargeable - charge them. If they're not, replace them (with rechargeable NiMH batteries if possible).

Quality too low for 4x6 prints

A P72 should be good enough for 4x6 prints. Are you shooting at the maximum resolution? At 3.2 Megapixels you should be able to print at 4x6" at 250dpi (which although not ideal is better than that of most magazine printing!)

The graininess of your images is not to do with resolution but rather sensitivity and the processing engine in the camera. Are you shooting in bright light, or mainly with the flash? If it is the latter, I'm afraid you're always going to have the picture noise (graininess) with this camera.

If you're going to upgrade, look for a model with good low light capabilities and a good lens. www.dpreview.com is an excellent resource for comparison shopping.

Power/lens Problems

it seems that the lense movement is jammed. Have you dropped the camera? just have a close look from the front side of the camera, does the lense assembly seems to be pressed or moved aside by some extra preassure? if no physical disalingment is visible may be some sand or dust partical is obstructing the movement of the lense assambly. needs a help from camera repair shop.

Lens is not moving in or out

Two posibilities : lens impacted and has to be replaced complete ( the whole lens unit with both motors and CCD sensor ) this is expensive. Or is you are lucky the gearbox has a gear that has popped. Replacing gearbox is not so expensive.

Images on memory stick downloading everytime although camera says no images in folder

Best thing to try is to format the disk - save anything you want to keep somewhere else first. If you need info on how to format the disk please post again with details of your operating system on your pc. Formatting should remove this problem, here is the link to the manual if you need it; http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3082146111.pdf If formatting doesn't solve the problem, try deleting them from a card reader on a different pc - just might help, but if it doesn't format then the memory stick is probably dying. Hope this helps :)

Fokusing ..

Service Manual maybe is not the best solution, because in this manual there is no info for repairing the optical unit. Replacing the lens unit part number: 175892511 is the only solution. Cost for the optical is about 100 Euro (for my account) If you need more info, please advice. Arpi

Please send a solution asap

The palm tree is a slow shutter "twilight" setting to capture low light levels. Try resetting all functions by turning on the camera then pushing the "reset" button - you'll find it next to the recharge/DC IN socket on the back. Push it with a toothpick or paper clip. If that doesn't correct it, it could be an aperture or shutter problem that's a job for a shop.
