Air-O-Swiss 7133 Humidifier Questions & Answers
Humidifier leaves film everywhere!
I talked to Kaz, a manufacturer of humidifiers, and they said this is referred to as "white dust". It's simply the minerals from your water settling on your furniture...I had to same problem so I called the manufacturer.
He said it's not dangerous but that I should use distilled water in my humidifier from now on since my water will always do that. He also stressed the importance of cleaning the unit weekly with a bleach and vinegar solution per the manufacturers specs.
White dust humidifiers harmful
I know this is an old question, however there are many of these units in use so I feel it is relevant.
Actually, this white dust is harmful. If not for my Dyson purifier suddenly indicating dangerous levels of particulate in the air, I would never have pinpointed that the source of my cats developing persistent asthmatic cough, was my new humidifier. This is not benign, it's completely unhealthy. In fact their coughing persisted after removing the unit, and up until every surface was cleaned. I can only guess where else it's accumulated as it has even settled inside closed drawers.
It is so fine, this dust cannot be filtered. With the amount of mineral being pumped into the air it can even inhaled into the lungs. I have never seen this much dust with any humidifier in my life. It is excessive. What is the point in buying all these filters it requires when it's not actually filtering anything? Buying distilled water is impractical and yet another expense to get a passable result from this already expensive unit. I really think think there is a deeper problem here. In my research it seems this became an issue since Boneco took over. I wish they would address this problem. Customers are out of pocket, and unknowingly exposing themselves, children, elderly, and pets to possible health problems.
Air-o-swiss 7135 humidifier not misting
Ours has done the same thing after only 2 weeks. From article research, it appears that this occurs to everyone after cleaning it with the EZ Cal that is recommended. From looking at our unit and figuring out how it works, it appears as though the Ultrasonic Vibration membrane has stopped working. This particular piece is responsible for vibrating the water and making water mist particles which are blown out with the air. We will be calling the manufacturer on Monday to register a complaint and request a replacement unit.

Check that the dials are open and that there is no mineral buildup in the holes/vents....

How do i clean out
EZCal Humidifier Cleaner and Descaler is what the company recomends. Also if you do not have this using equall parts of vinegar to water use the brush that came with unit. Now with this at first use if using vinegar and water it will have an odor, but the EZcal is odorless

Okay, I just started getting this same deal with my 7133 on it's third season. I found in a blog that if you hold down the button that controls the heat while turning the mist knob on, it resets the machine. It worked. The red light went green and I turned off the heat button for cool air and the upper light still stayed green. Fingers crossed this continues to work. good luck!

you do not clean it should have pad in it. replace pad and you should be fine
Air o swiss 7133 doesn't send out any vapor
Interestingly enough as soon as I posted here, I was able to find the source of the problem. It appears that during cleaning the water level sensor, a bobber which normally floats as the water level rises, became stuck the to bottom of the water base - see below for the picture. I was able to use a small wooden spoon to lightly apply pressure and release the bobber so that it could float, and instantly the vapor started flowing again.
The humidifier doesn't make enough vapor
Soak it with vinegar for several hours then use a soft nylon bristled brush to scrape off the minerlized crust and rinse. You probably need to replace the silver stick & mineralization cartridge more often.
Flow of mist intermittent.
here is the manual if you need it
http://www.plaston.com/uc/ats/products/ultrasonic/aos7133/index_html/manual
on page 6 you can see item k - the water level sensor - i believe it is electronic not a float device (but either way the same is usually true)- usually these can fail when dirty - limescale mostly. a lot of the problems may be the result of not replacing the demineralisation cartridge often enough.
descale by leaving overnight with around 40% vinegar solution full to the top, make sure the demineralisation cartridge is removed while u descale - check pages 9& 10.
Hope this helps :)
