Beverage-Air MT17 Refrigerator Commercial Questions & Answers
Fan runs all the time
The inside fan has to run all the time. It turns off it will not keep things cold. Not the fan outside in the air it shoulc cycle with the compressor.
What do you do with
sounds like you either need to replace the door springs or at least look to see what might be wrong. let me know if i can help.
The unit will not cool
Without refrigeration gauges, you can't check your freon level. You have to check the pressure of the freon, not the level. If you are careful and have a basic knowledge of electricity and moving parts, you can get an idea if you are out of freon. If you remove the lower slotted cover from the refrigerator you will see the condensor coils. This is a radiator that has aluminum fins on the front and will have a fan running behind it. If the compressor is running this condenser coil should be hot to the touch at the top part of the aluminum fins. If the fins are covered with dust and dirt it can cause your cooler to malfunction. Also if the fan is not running the compressor will overheat and quit. If you pull the cooler away from the wall, you can see the compressor in the bottom of the cooler. There are two copper lines leading to the compressor. The small line goes to the condensor coils (the radiator) and should be hot enough to burn your finger if you have enough freon. Also the larger of the two copper lines brings the freon back to the compressor from inside the cooler. It should be cold to the touch if you have proper freon pressure. If both of those two lines feel about the same temperature, either the compressor is not running or you have no freon. BE CAREFUL! There are electrical lines and moving fan blades near the compressor, and some of the tubing gets really hot.
Unit makes a rattling noise
Yes, the compressor should be bolted down tight enough to be pressing against the springs beneath it, but not so tight that it completely smashes the springs.
If there are no springs beneath the compressor that could also be the cause of the noise problem.
Remove two small commercial refrigerators
The refrigerant must be recoverd or drawn into the condensing unit and the service valves closed.
If you do not have service valves that will close, you must recover the refrigerant.
Replace coolent in refrigerator
refrigerant does not need to be replaced. only time needs gassing up is if there is a fault with the sealed system such as a leak etc. what is your actual problem that makes you ask the question. get back to me if you like
Condensation
There is no"filter" underneath. There is. however, a tray underneath your fridge, designed to catch any excess water. If you remove the bottom louvered piece in the front on the fridge, you will find, probably on the right hand side, a tray which is engineered and designed to catch any excess water (as if the fridge were defrosting), but there is no "filter" which I know about. Refrigerators are pretty simple machines. They don't typically require lots of maintenance, but they do require monitoring here and there.
