If the remote control have a "CC" button on it, press it once to cose the Closed Caption option. If the remote do not have a 'CC" button, enter TVs menu option, surf through, come towards closed caption adjus window, and make clsed caption function to OFF, if it is ON.

I called Philips at 1 888 744 5477 and they solved my Access Code question thusly.

Default Code is 0711.

Sounds like the power button on either the remote is not releasing when you take your finger off the button. Or the circuit board is starting to go bad on the remote. here is one thing you can do. you can take the remote apart carefully remembering how it goes back together and clean the shell and the pad only don't get the circuit board wet but if you do let it dry for a day before putting it back together (this is the way I do it.) or you can buy a universal remote to replace the old one.

I don't think there is no reset switch inside the TV but may be FUSE blown deu to power intruption pls check the fuse and if it gone peplace the fuse with same rating

Unfortunately, that function is simply too advanced to access any other way but through an appropriate remote control unit. As this is such a highly sought TV by audiophiles who want an excellent listening experience for their older audio-DVDs, this remote control is readily available. One can buy a replacement, either a used original remote (model RCU81B) for between $8- $40 on eBay and other such sites, or brand new, for between $30- $35 through several different remote replacement companies. Simply search the words "Philips Magnavox RCU81B" to locate such sellers. You also have the choice of buying a clone- brand new, of course- for around $20. Most sellers of remotes on sites like eBay do warrant their used products, so there is no real reason not to go that route.

I just ran a quick check of an eBay seller with a $7.99 original remote, and not only does it look great, but it comes with a 100% guarantee. To get full functionality of your TV back, especially for one that offers as options as the TP2784C, that is a very small amount of money to pay. The seller even offers a "Best Offer" option, so who knows, you might try offering him $5 and see if he is willing to go for it!

I called Philips Magnavox at 1 888 744 5477 and they told me the default ACCESS CODE number is 0711. It works on my TV though it didn't solve MY problem of the TV defaulting to Chanel 9 every time I turn it on. Drats. Hope this helps.

On this set, the volume buttons are the same as the menu button on your remote. The two channel buttons work the same as the scrolling arrows on your remote. It will take some practice, but to turn on the menu, press both volume buttons at once. Then practice using the volume controls to scroll. Once you have the hang of it, you can simply use these four buttons the same way you would have used your remote. It maybe a model that is used in hotels and has a volume lock on it.You need to contact the manufacturer, or read the instructions on how to override it.

CHECK COOL SOLDER IN POWER SUPPLY AND 2 RESISTEN. IN HORIZONTAL SECTION CHECK ALL COOL SOLDERING

You may try unplugging the set for about 10 seconds and trying again to see if it resets itself. If that doesn't work, you could be lucky and just have a blown fuse inside the set. Do not put in a higher amperage fuse than what it calls for though, and if the new one blows don't try another. IF the fuses are good, then you probably have a problem in the power supply and if the set is less than 6 years old, it may be worth repairing.
