Try booting it to safe mode and see if it does it there. If it doesn't it seems like it could be software related, if it does do it there it is probably hardware

The beep signifies an error. But different bioses have different beeps. You can check with the emachine site to tell you what 1 beep on the machine signifies and you can be guided accordingly. Could be bad power supply, connection, peripheral, etc

Enable raid mode in bios setup. nForce Drivers WILL install the MediaSheild software!!!!!!!!!! The sata hdd's must also be configured into a NVidia Stripe at least using the bios sata/raid config. tool(F10 on my board) then nForce driver install should offer it up. I have no problems installing or removing EVEN ON MediaSheild from Dualboot XP-SP2 X86 or Vista x86.

that was wrong typed wrong is not overide but over-range. no monitor told or PC at all. but if you set the pC to resolution over what the monitor can do the monitor , shows overange and goes to sleep, black screened VGA???????? OLD monitors used on newer PCs do that, also if Microsoft OS, is it, not told but newer OS has higher default resolutions making all monitors old fail hard. the quick cure is put your PC into SAFEmod. w7 down is F8 hotkey goes to 800x600 resolution most old monitors can do. some mon can only do 1024x768 max. frankly read the monitors manual first. it sets upper limits> !!!! RTM read the manual on your unstated monitor vast , 1998 to now. set the PC to the highest resolution your monitor allows. or call a tech to your home have them fix this easy. it is a simple problem. next time post model of PC and monitor and we can go DIRECTY to the problem. even post photos of errors to get them correct,.'

Hi Dennis, It could also be the Hard Disk Drive. One thing I found is , DUST can cause any PC to shut down or cause burning scents. Open the cover and if you see lots of dust build-up, use a vacuum or those compressed air-dusters (also known as canned air or compressed air,) is a product used for cleaning electronic equipment and other sensitive devices . The dust is usually the # 1 cause of any computer failing to boot up, as there is no ventilation on those fans inside. Second could be the Hard Disk Drive. You may have to replace it if you hear any clicking or a message appears on the screen (Operating System Not found) or the computer doesn't boot up into windows. Hope this helps

The Motherboard fan should take the power from board only, if you need the extra casing fan then you should connect with SMPS (power supply) through the connector or buy the fan which have to connect with SMPS power connector. the next time you get it up and running try doing a disk cleanup and a defrag and also do a disck check on the drive.go into mycomputer..then right click on the drive you want todo a disk check.might work after the check..
